Welcome to the World Journal of Hepatology

World Journal of Hepatology is aimed to share medical progress, promote medical advances, and improve management of various liver diseases by publishing innovative medical research articles in hepatology. The journal is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access academic journal dedicated to publishing high-quality of original research articles, meta-analysis, review, minireview, guidelines, corresponding, and case report in the field of hepatology, including basic, translational, and clinical studies. The journal focuses on, but is not limited to, the following areas: Basic hepatology research, such as liver development, physiology and regeneration; acute and acute on chronic liver failure; metabolic liver diseases, such as metabolic-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), alcoholic liver disease, and drug-induced liver injury; infectious liver diseases, such as viral hepatitis A, B, C, D, and E; autoimmune liver diseases, such as autoimmune hepatitis, primary biliary cholangitis, and primary sclerosing cholangitis; genetic liver diseases, such as Wilson disease and hemochromatosis; liver tumor, such as hepatocellular carcinoma and cholangiocarcinoma; and liver complications caused by various liver diseases, such as liver fibrosis, cirrhosis and its complication, chronic cholestatic liver disease, and liver transplantation; and other liver diseases such as gut microbiota and liver disease, imaging and drug targeting, and hepatobiliary surgery. The approach of hepatology research can be from laboratory, medicine, surgery, pathology and imaging, novel therapy and intervention, to clinical trials and artificial intelligence. All submissions undergo a rigorous and transparent peer-review process by at least two independent reviewers. Manuscripts are evaluated based on scientific rigor, originality, clinical relevance, and reproducibility, with particular attention to methodological robustness and data integrity. Constructive and timely feedback is provided to ensure the highest standards of scholarly communication. The journal adheres to the highest standards of publication ethics and editorial integrity, in accordance with the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics, the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors, and the World Association of Medical Editors. To advance scientific discovery, promote evidence-based clinical practice, and foster innovation in hepatology, ultimately improving global health outcomes.
