Welcome to the World Journal of Hepatology

World Journal of Hepatology is aimed to share medical progress, promote medical advances, and improve management of various liver diseases by publishing innovative medical research articles in hepatology. The journal is a rigorously peer-reviewed, open-access academic journal dedicated to publishing high-quality of original research articles, meta-analysis, review, minireview, guidelines, corresponding, and case report in the field of hepatology, including basic, translational, and clinical studies. The journal focuses on, but is not limited to, the following areas: Basic hepatology research, such as liver development, physiology and regeneration; acute and acute on chronic liver failure; metabolic liver diseases, such as metabolic-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), alcoholic liver disease, and drug-induced liver injury; infectious liver diseases, such as viral hepatitis A, B, C, D, and E; autoimmune liver diseases, such as autoimmune hepatitis, primary biliary cholangitis, and primary sclerosing cholangitis; genetic liver diseases, such as Wilson disease and hemochromatosis; liver tumor, such as hepatocellular carcinoma and cholangiocarcinoma; and liver complications caused by various liver diseases, such as liver fibrosis, cirrhosis and its complication, chronic cholestatic liver disease, and liver transplantation; and other liver diseases such as gut microbiota and liver disease, imaging and drug targeting, and hepatobiliary surgery. The approach of hepatology research can be from laboratory, medicine, surgery, pathology and imaging, novel therapy and intervention, to clinical trials and artificial intelligence. The journal sincerely welcomes experts and scholars to submit above mentioned all types of research manuscripts. Each submission will be peer-reviewed by at least two independent reviewers, who will critically assess its novelty, significance, and reproducibility, as well as any flaws in experimental design and data processing, in order to provide authors with meaningful peer review reports. The journal adheres to editorial policies, peer-review processes, editorial processes, and publication ethics guidelines developed by the editorial office in accordance with the Committee on Publication Ethics, the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors, and the World Association of Medical Editors.
