Dear Sir or Madam:

According to the 2010 Journal Citation Reports released by Thomson Reuters on June 28, 2011, the most recent impact factor for World Journal of Gastroenterology (WJG) is 2.240 (self cites: 6%; total cites: 15,119). WJG ranks 35th by impact factor and 7th by total cites among 71 international journals focusing on gastroenterology and hepatology. These statistics suggest that WJG is a high-quality journal. This is the result of hard work of all editorial board members, editorial director, scientific editors, electronic editors and editorial assistants over the past 17 years. Here I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the 1,390 members of the WJG Editorial Board for all you have done for WJG.

Thanks to the great support of all members of the WJG Editorial Board, Baishideng Publishing Group (BPG) published 917 articles in 2010, whose authors came from 55 countries and regions. Of these articles, the members of the WJG Editorial Board contributed 226 (24.65%) review articles, 138 (15.05%) original articles, 428 (46.67%) short articles, 104 (11.34%) case reports, 18 (1.96%) letters to the editor, 1 (0.10%) statistic article, 1 (0.10%) book review, and 1 (0.10%) commemorative article.
