Announcing the First World Journal of Hepatology Best Paper Award
In order to promote the World Journal of Hepatology (WJH) to become an important academic exchange platform in the field of hepatology and to provide better services for authors and readers, on August 25, 2017, we called for papers to be considered for publication in WJH from which the three Best Paper Awards would be selected.
Up to the deadline, 89 titles were submitted, among which 45 manuscripts were successfully submitted. After the peer-review, 18 of the 45 manuscripts were published (1 was published in Volume 9, Issue 36, 2017; 5 were published in Volume 10, Issue 1, 2018; and, 12 were published in Volume 10, Issue 2, 2018). The published manuscripts included 9 reviews (5 reviews and 4 minireviews), 7 original articles (3 basic studies, 2 observational studies, 1 prospective study and 1 retrospective cohort study), as well as 2 meta-analyses.
According to the original criteria established for the First World Journal of Hepatology Best Paper Award, the award evaluation results for the 18 published papers are announced as follows:
1 Award announcement
1.1 First prize: Absent (no paper reached the criteria for the First prize).
1.2 Second prize: Absent (no paper reached the criteria for the Second prize).
1.3 Third prize: We are pleased to announce that after prepublication single-blind peer-review and postpublication single-blind article quality tracking assessment, the manuscript entitled “Digital liver biopsy: Bio-imaging of fatty liver for translational and clinical research” published in the World Journal of Hepatology 2018; 10(2): 231-245 has won the <Baishideng Awards> Third prize, and will be awarded 2000 USD along with an official award certificate. 2 Criteria for the award
2.1 First prize: Academic rating of Grade A by at least 3 peer-reviewers, and could include Grade B but excludes Grades C, D and E, at the prepublication single-blind peer-review stage; and, garnering at least 3 First prize recommendations at the postpublication single-blind article quality tracking assessment stage.
2.2 Second prize: Academic rating of Grade A by at least 2 peer-reviewers, Grade B by at least 2 peer-reviewer, and could include Grade C but excludes Grades D and E, at the prepublication single-blind peer-review stage; and, garnering at least 3 Second prize recommendations or above at the postpublication single-blind article quality tracking assessment stage.
2.3 Third prize: Academic rating of Grade A by at least 1 peer-reviewer and Grade B by at least 2 peer-reviewers, or Grade B by at least 3 peer-reviewers, and could include Grade C but excludes Grades D and E, at the prepublication single-blind peer-review stage; and, garnering at least 3 Third prize recommendations or above at the postpublication single-blind article quality tracking assessment stage.
