In 2019, the World Journal of Hepatology (WJH) has published the 5th issue which containing 7 articles including 1 opinion review, 1 review, 1 original article, 1 systematic review, 1 meta-analysis, and 2 case reports contributed by scientists worldwide. Among these comprehensive articles are (1) “Hepatitis C virus cure with direct acting antivirals: Clinical, economic, societal and patient value for China”, a review by Shan-Lian Hu, Professor, et al from School of Public Health, Fudan University, China; (2) “Hepatitis C virus antigens enzyme immunoassay for one-step diagnosis of hepatitis C virus coinfection in human immunodeficiency virus infected individuals”, a basic study by Ke-Qin Hu, FAASLD, et al University of California, United States; and (3) “Successful treatment of noncirrhotic portal hypertension with eculizumab in paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria: A case report”, a case report by Alexandra Alexopoulou, MD, PhD, Associate Professor, et al National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Hippokration General Hospital, Greece, etc. We invite you to peruse all 7 articles in this issue, as they present the latest research progress/findings and provide insightful comments in gastroenterology and hepatology that will guide basic research and clinical practice in these fields.
