In 2018, the World Journal of Gastroenterology (WJG) has published the 18th issue which containing 9 articles including 5 reviews, and 4 original articles contributed by scientists worldwide. Among these comprehensive articles are (1) “Gastrointestinal stromal tumors: A multidisciplinary challenge”, a review by Juan Manuel Sanchez-Hidalgo, MD, PhD, Doctor, Surgical Oncologist, et al from Department of General and Digestive Surgery, Reina Sofia University Hospital, Spain; (2) “Microbiota modification by probiotic supplementation reduces colitis associated colon cancer in mice”, a basic study by José Barreto C Carvalheira, MD, PhD, Associate Professor, et al from Department of Internal Medicine, FCM-State University of Campinas (UNICAMP), Brazil; and (3) “Quantitative assessment of hepatic fibrosis in chronic hepatitis B and C: T1 mapping on Gd-EOB-DTPA-enhanced liver magnetic resonance imaging”, a clinical trials study by Qi-Yong Guo, MD, Professor, et al from Department of Radiology, Shengjing Hospital of China Medical University, China, etc. We invite you to peruse all 9 articles in this issue, as they present the latest research progress/findings and provide insightful comments in gastroenterology and hepatology that will guide basic research and clinical practice in these fields.
