In 2018, the World Journal of Gastroenterology (WJG) has published the 5th issue which containing 10 articles including 1 review, 8 original articles, and 1 case report contributed by scientists worldwide. Among these comprehensive articles are (1) “Behind the curtain of non-coding RNAs; long non-coding RNAs regulating hepatocarcinogenesis”, a review by Hend M El Tayebi, PhD, Assistant Professor, Head of Genetic Pharmacology Research Group, et al from Clinical Pharmacy Unit, Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, Faculty of Pharmacy and Biotechnology, German University in Cairo, Egypt; (2) “Enteral nutrition combined with glutamine promotes recovery after ileal pouch-anal anastomosis in rats”, a basic study by Gang Liu, MD, PhD, Professor, Surgeon, et al from Department of General Surgery, Tianjin Medical University General Hospital, China; and (3) “Sequential spinal and intracranial dural metastases in gastric adenocarcinoma: A case report”, a case report by Hye Sook Han, MD, PhD, Associate Professor, et al from Department of Internal Medicine, College of Medicine, Chungbuk National University, South Korea, etc. We invite you to peruse all 10 articles in this issue, as they present the latest research progress/findings and provide insightful comments in gastroenterology and hepatology that will guide basic research and clinical practice in these fields.
