According to the latest Journal Citation Reports (JCR) released by Thomson Reuters on June 13, 2016, the newly-published 2015 impact factor (IF) of WJG is 2.787 (5-year IF: 2.848).
In 2016, we successfully carried out the complete peer review, editing and publishing processes of the WJG with the support of all our editors and peer reviewers. As of December 20, 2016, a total of 4428 manuscripts were received, of which 1400/2291 (61.1%) unsolicited manuscripts and 1314/2137 (61.5%) invited manuscripts were rejected, and 386 manuscripts currently under peer review. A total of 1036 articles were published, including 167 (16.12%) basic studies, 28 (2.70%) case control studies, 79 (7.63%) case reports, 13 (1.25%) clinical trials studies, 3 (0.30%) diagnostic advances, 34 (3.29%) editorials, 3 (0.30%) evidence-based medicines, 2 (0.19%) field of visions, 6 (0.58%) frontiers, 9 (0.87%) letters to the editor, 12 (1.16%) meta-analyses, 64 (6.18%) minireviews, 58 (5.60%) observational studies, 28 (2.70%) prospective studies, 3 (0.30%) randomized clinical trials, 5 (0.48%) randomized controlled trials, 34 (3.29%) retrospective cohort studies, 116 (11.20%) retrospective studies, 172 (16.60%) reviews, 18 (1.74%) systematic reviews, 1 (0.09%) therapeutics advances, and 181 (17.47%) topic highlights. The authors came from 54 countries or regions, and there are 307 (29.63%) articles received more than 500 clicks/downs.
As of December 20, 2016, a total of 12,987,858 visits from 246 countries and regions to the online journal were received.

BPG currently publishes 43 peer-reviewed, open access journals covering a broad range of topics in clinical medicine, as well as several topics in biochemistry and molecular biology relevant to human health today.
