Baishideng has over 31 years of experience in publishing, which was initiated upon the publication of our first two journals, the World Chinese Journal of Digestology was founded on January 15, 1993 (WCJD; in Chinese) and the World Journal of Gastroenterology was founded on October 01, 1995 (WJG; in English).
The WCJD has evolved into a prominent and trusted publication in Mainland China, reporting on clinically relevant advances in the understanding of normal function and disease conditions of the digestive system.
Meanwhile, WJG has emerged as an internationally renowned publication, with a broad scope of reporting basic and clinical research in esophageal, gastrointestinal, liver, pancreas and biliary tract conditions, and is currently indexed in the following literature databases: Current Contents®/Clinical Medicine, Science Citation Index Expanded (also known as SciSearch®), Journal Citation Reports®, Index Medicus, MEDLINE®, PubMed, PubMed Central, Digital Object Identifier, and Directory of Open Access Journals. The 2023 edition of Journal Citation Reports® cites the 2022 impact factor (IF) for WJG as 4.3; IF without journal self cites: 4.1; 5-year IF: 5.3; Journal Citation Indicator: 0.82; Ranking: 33 among 93 journals in gastroenterology and hepatology; and Quartile category: Q2. The WJG’s CiteScore for 2021 is 8.3 and Scopus CiteScore rank 2022: Gastroenterology is 22/149.
