In this retraction note, we describe the World Journal of Clinical Cases Editorial Office’s decision and reason for retracting a published article titled "Lung imaging characteristics in a patient infected with Elizabethkingia miricola following cerebral hemorrhage surgery: A case report", World J Clin Cases 2024; 12(1): 169-175.
Core Tip: An article, titled "Lung imaging characteristics in a patient infected with Elizabethkingia miricola following cerebral hemorrhage surgery: A case report", published in World Journal of Clinical Cases was found to have included a reference that is unrelated to the subject of the article in which it is cited. After careful evaluation, the Editorial Office decided to retract this article.

The World Journal of Clinical Cases (WJCC) Editorial Office has retracted this article[1]. The article was found to include a reference that is unrelated to the subject of the article and/or the context in which it is cited, after its publication. The WJCC Editorial Office conducted an investigation and found that Reference 1 “Fuerst TR, de la Cruz VF, Bansal GP, Stover CK. Development and analysis of recombinant BCG vector systems. AIDS Res Hum Retroviruses 1992; 8: 1451-1455 [PMID: 1466980 DOI: 10.1078/072320203770865828]” is unrelated to the subject of the citing article and/or the context in which it is cited: “Elizabethkingia miricola is a rare non-fermenting gram-negative bacterium, which was first isolated from the condensate water in the Mir space station[1] in 2003.”[1].
Based on these findings, the WJCC Editorial Office no longer has sufficient confidence in the content and conclusions of this article, which may have misled readers and affected the quality of the content published in WJCC.
The WJCC Editorial Office has contacted the authors concerning this issue, requesting a clarification or correction from the authors; however, up to the time of writing of this retraction note, no response has been received.
To safeguard the scientific quality of the articles published in WJCC, after careful consideration, the WJCC Editorial Office made the decision to retract this published article.
