Herbal medicine exerts multi-target effects in mild cognitive impairment through four key pathways: Neuroprotection and anti-inflammation, cholinergic modulation, improved cerebral metabolism and perfusion, and gut-brain axis regulation. These mechanisms collectively influence brain structure, function, and metabolism, as reflected by multimodal neuroimaging biomarkers.
