We recently read this case report about “Point-of-care ultrasound for the early diagnosis of emphysematous pyelonephritis”. Emphysematous pyelonephritis is rare in clinic, its onset is sudden and its condition is dangerous. Point-of-care ultrasound for the early diagnosis of emphysematous pyelonephritis is very important for the early diagnosis of critical patients. This early ultrasound diagnosis method is a new idea for the clinical application of critical ultrasound.
Point-of-care ultrasound examinations are usually used in emergency and endangering the patient’s vital signs to speed up patient diagnosis and treatment. Because point-of-care ultrasound performs a single or limited examination for a specific clinical phenotype, it greatly shortens the examination time.
Anesthesiologists, ICUs, and emergency physicians most need to master point-of-care ultrasound technology. Experts in different fields like to name their own field, such as critical ultrasound, emergency ultrasound, or anesthesia ultrasound. No matter what the name is, the purpose is the same. It is hoped that real-time ultrasound at the bedside can provide many physical examinations and information that cannot be provided by various monitoring equipment, so as to achieve rapid, dynamic and visual acquisition of the patient's pathophysiological state, and for visual guidance Provide help for operations such as puncture.
