Stem cells represent the focused area in the regenerative medicine. One of the new theoretical
basis in stem cell reseaches is the role of mitochodria. This review provided a novel perspective on the
maintenance of stem cell homeostasis, life extension and cancer. which may introduce new insights for future regenerative medicine approaches.

Reader Comments:
This is a comprehensive review on the most important mechanism of mitochondria protein control, which is involved in several physiological pathways to sustain cellular homeostasis. The Authors summarize current evidence of UPRmt involvement in several stem cell types. This review is well-organized and updated. The only criticism is related to the final part of the manuscript, which should have emphasized further research to manipulate this mechanism for pre-clinical and clinical application.
