Welcome to the World Journal of Gastroenterology

World Journal of Gastroenterology is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal dedicated to advancing cutting-edge research and clinical practice across the full spectrum of gastroenterology and hepatology. The journal prioritizes the publication of innovative, high-impact studies that enhance understanding of gastrointestinal diseases and improve patient outcomes worldwide. It serves as a global platform for the dissemination of clinically relevant, translational, and basic research, with a strong emphasis on bridging bench-to-bedside applications. The scope of the journal includes, but is not limited to: Gastroenterology and hepatology, gastrointestinal oncology and precision medicine, endoscopy and minimally invasive interventions, gastrointestinal surgery, epidemiology and population health, mechanistic research (genetics, molecular biology, and immunology), diagnostic imaging and pathology, and nutrition and multidisciplinary care. Particular emphasis is placed on emerging and transformative areas, including artificial intelligence–driven diagnostics, predictive modeling, and decision support systems in gastrointestinal medicine. The journal welcomes studies addressing diseases of the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, colon and rectum, pancreas, gallbladder, bile ducts, and liver. The journal publishes a diverse range of article types, including: Original clinical and basic research, translational studies, systematic reviews and meta-analyses, reviews and mini-reviews, guidelines and expert consensus, editorials and correspondences, and case reports. All submissions undergo a rigorous and transparent peer-review process by at least two independent reviewers. Manuscripts are evaluated based on scientific rigor, originality, clinical relevance, and reproducibility, with particular attention to methodological robustness and data integrity. Constructive and timely feedback is provided to ensure the highest standards of scholarly communication. The journal adheres to the highest standards of publication ethics and editorial integrity, in accordance with the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics, the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors, and the World Association of Medical Editors.
