Core Tip
Core Tip: This systematic review of 82 studies developing type 2 diabetes mellitus prediction models (2016–2025) shows that while modifiable risk factors (e.g., obesity, smoking, and physical inactivity) are increasingly included, most models have a high risk of bias, use inappropriate variable selection methods, and lack external validation. Future models should prioritize rigorous methodology and clinically actionable predictors to improve early detection and prevention.
