Abstract
BACKGROUND Despite previous studies, the relationship between the triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index and coronary artery disease (CAD) is still undetermined. So we aimed to investigate the association between the TyG index and CAD. METHOD A total of 2346 subjects were enrolled in the study and were categorised into 5: those with no CAD, angiogram negative (Ang-) patients, those with single-vessel disease (SVD), or two-vessel disease (2VD) or three-vessel disease (3VD). Demographic characteristics, disease history and biochemical investigations were recorded. TyG index was calculated as Ln [fasting TG (mg/dL) × fasting glucose (mg/dL)/2]. RESULTS Adjusted regression models demonstrated that the odds of 3VD (OR, 5.847; 95% CI, 4.391-7.784), 2VD (OR, 4.943; 95% CI, 3.597-6.791), SVD (OR, 4.722; 95% CI 3.448-6.647) and a negative coronary angiogram (OR, 3.137; 95% CI, 2.431-4.049), increased significantly per each unit elevation of the TyG index, compared to the healthy participants. Also, the odds for being 3VD (1.864, 95%CI 1.402-2.477, p-value < 0.001), 2VD (1.575, 95%CI 1.143-2.171, p-value = 0.005) and SVD (1.505, 95%CI 1.097-2.065, p-value = 0.011) were increased significantly by one-unit elevation of TyG index, compared to Ang- group. CONCLUSION Our study demonstrates a significant association between elevated TyG index and the presence and severity of CAD. Higher TyG index values were consistently linked to an increased likelihood of multivessel CAD, especially in diabetic patients. These findings suggest that the TyG index could serve as a valuable marker for assessing CAD risk and stratification.

Abstract
The cardiovascular kidney metabolic (CKM) syndrome is a dynamic geriatric condition that has received limited research attention regarding its potential associations with the triglyceride glucose (TyG) index. This study aims to explore the potential association between the TyG index and advanced CKM syndrome. Data for this cross-sectional study were obtained from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) conducted between 2011 and 2018. The association between the TyG index and the risk of advanced CKM syndrome was investigated using multivariable logistic regression models. Additionally, a restricted cubic spline (RCS) analysis was employed to assess the dose-response relationship between the TyG index and the risk of advanced CKM syndrome. A total of 7904 participants were included in this study, with a mean TyG index of 5.04 ± 0.41. The prevalence of advanced CKM syndrome among the participants was 14.85%. Our findings indicated that as the TyG index quartiles increased, the risk of advanced CKM syndrome also increased. The results from the three regression analysis models indicated a positive association between the continuous TyG index and advanced CKM syndrome. Furthermore, the quartiles of the TyG index were significantly associated with an increased prevalence of advanced CKM syndrome in the fully adjusted models (TyG index Q4 vs. Q1, OR = 1.94, 95% CI 1.37-2.75, P < 0.001). The results of the RCS analysis indicated a linear and positive association between the TyG index and advanced CKM syndrome. The results indicated that elevated TyG index is associated with an increased prevalence of advanced CKM syndrome. This suggests that the TyG index may be a useful tool for assessing the risk of advanced CKM syndrome.

Abstract
Aim: To identify the predictive role of triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index in pulmonary hypertension (PH) in coronary artery disease (CAD) patients after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) treatment.Methods: Blood biomarkers have been measured at the cross-section of entrance. The baseline and followed-up echocardiography have been performed at both cross-sections.Results: The incidence of PH was 8.91%. The baseline myoglobin (MYO), was significantly higher among PH patients (p < 0.001). In the univariate regression, body mass index (BMI p = 0.020), left atria end-diastolic internal diameter (LAD, p = 0.083), creatinine (Cr, p = 0.005), triglyceride (TG, p < 0.001), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C, p = 0.056) and TyG index (p = 0.002) were potential predictors for PH. Finally, the adjusted COX regression indicated that BMI (p = 0.001), LAD (p = 0.030), Cr(p = 0.005) and TyG index (p = 0.002) were independent predictors of the onset of PH.Conclusion: Baseline TyG index, BMI, LAD, Cr level were independent predictors for PH in CAD patients after PCI treatment.

Abstract
Background The association between the triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index and its combination with obesity indictors in aortic aneurysm and dissection (AAD) remains unclear. We aimed to investigate the association between TyG and TyG-body mass index (TyG-BMI), TyG-waist circumference (TyG-WC), TyG-waist height ratio (TyG-WHtR) and AAD risk. Methods This study included 387,483 baseline participants from the UK Biobank with complete data on TyG, TyG-BMI, TyG-WC and TyG-WHtR. Cox proportional hazard models evaluated the relationship between these four indicators and the risk of AAD occurrence. Restricted cubic spline (RCS) examined the non-linear relationship between these indicators and AAD risk, while receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves assessed the predictive value of these four indicators for AAD risk. Results Over a median follow-up of 13.7 years, 3,041 AAD events were recorded. Multivariate Cox regression analysis indicated that for each standard deviation increase, the risk of AAD occurrence increased by 33% (HR: 1.33, 95%CI: 1.29-1.38), 25% (HR: 1.25, 95%CI: 1.21-1.29), 61% (HR: 1.61, 95%CI: 1.56-1.66) and 44% (HR: 1.44, 95%CI: 1.39-1.49) for TyG, TyG-BMI, TyG-WC and TyG-WHtR, respectively. RCS demonstrated a linear relationship between these indicators and AAD risk, with TyG-WC demonstrating the best performance in predicting AAD occurrence based on ROC curves. Conclusion The present study, based on a large prospective cohort design, showed that higher TyG index and its combination with obesity indices were significantly associated with the risk of AAD. Moreover, AFT models further showed that elevation of these indicators significantly advanced the onset of AAD. In addition, RCS analyses demonstrated a linear association between these indicators and the risk of AAD, and the TyG-WC showed higher predictive ability for AAD. These findings emphasize the potential application of the TyG index and its combination with obesity indicators in the early identification of AAD.

Abstract
BACKGROUND This study explores the intricate relationship between Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), the Triglyceride-Glucose (TyG) index, and Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) in a U.S. adult population. It focuses on understanding how the TyG index, as a marker of insulin resistance, relates to cardiovascular risk in the presence of CKD. METHODS A cross-sectional analysis was conducted using data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) spanning from 1999 to 2018. The study involved classifying stages of CKD, calculating the TyG index, and applying statistical analyses including logistic regression. RESULTS The investigation revealed that individuals with CKD, who comprised 49% males with an average age of 47 years, exhibited a higher incidence of CVD. The study demonstrated that before adjusting for the TyG index, the odds ratio (OR) for the association between CKD and CVD was 1.77. Importantly, the TyG index was found to mediate 10% of the association between CKD and CVD. Moreover, a significant synergistic interaction was observed between a high TyG index and CKD, with the combined presence of these conditions increasing the risk ratio for CVD to 3.01. CONCLUSION The findings highlight the crucial role of insulin resistance in the link between CKD and CVD. The paper discusses the implications of chronic inflammation and endothelial dysfunction in CKD patients and the importance of the TyG index in assessing cardiovascular risk.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION In this study, we aimed to compare metabolic risk factors, lipid indices, healthy eating index, and physical activity among premenopausal, menopausal, and postmenopausal women. METHODS In this cross-sectional study, a total of 4,732 women participating in the Hoveyzeh Cohort Study were placed into three groups of premenopausal (n=736), menopausal (n=396), and postmenopausal (n=917) women, according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria . RESULTS The prevalence of metabolic syndrome was 43.3%, 55.6%, and 62.8% in premenopausal, menopausal, and postmenopausal women, respectively. After menopause, the prevalence of hypertension (50.2%), dyslipidemia (61.2%), diabetes (37.7%), and abdominal obesity according to the Iranian guidelines (75.9%) was higher than before menopause. Based on the results, cardiovascular disease had the highest prevalence after menopause (23%). The weight-adjusted waist index (WWI) had the highest odds ratio (OR) among indices, with values of 2.94 and 1.93 in menopausal and postmenopausal women, respectively (P<0.001). According to the Healthy Eating Index-2015 (HEI-2015), the total consumption of fruits, vegetables, seafood, and protein was higher in premenopausal women than in postmenopausal women, and the consumption of foods containing sugar was higher in menopausal women than in premenopausal women. The results showed that the level of physical activity was the highest and the lowest in premenopausal and postmenopausal women, respectively (P<0.001). CONCLUSION Menopause leads to an increase in the prevalence of metabolic syndrome. The Atherogenic Index of Plasma (AIP), Triglyceride Glucose (TyG) index, WWI, and physical activity index increased in postmenopausal women compared to premenopausal women. The TyG index, WWI, and HEI-2015 did not show significant differences between the groups, based on the multiple regression analysis.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The birth of large-for-gestational-age (LGA) infants is associated with many short-term adverse pregnancy outcomes. It has been observed that the proportion of LGA infants born to pregnant women with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is significantly higher than that born to healthy pregnant women. However, traditional methods for the diagnosis of LGA have limitations. Therefore, this study aims to establish a predictive model that can effectively identify women with GDM who are at risk of delivering LGA infants. AIM To develop and validate a nomogram prediction model of delivering LGA infants among pregnant women with GDM, and provide strategies for the effective prevention and timely intervention of LGA. METHODS The multivariable prediction model was developed by carrying out the following steps. First, the variables that were associated with LGA risk in pregnant women with GDM were screened by univariate analyses, for which the P value was < 0.10. Subsequently, Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selection Operator regression was fit using ten cross-validations, and the optimal combination factors were selected by choosing lambda 1se as the criterion. The final predictors were determined by multiple backward stepwise logistic regression analysis, in which only the independent variables were associated with LGA risk, with a P value < 0.05. Finally, a risk prediction model was established and subsequently evaluated by using area under the receiver operating characteristic curve, calibration curve and decision curve analyses. RESULTS After using a multistep screening method, we establish a predictive model. Several risk factors for delivering an LGA infant were identified (P < 0.01), including weight gain during pregnancy, parity, triglyceride-glucose index, free tetraiodothyronine level, abdominal circumference, alanine transaminase-aspartate aminotransferase ratio and weight at 24 gestational weeks. The nomogram's prediction ability was supported by the area under the curve (0.703, 0.709, and 0.699 for the training cohort, validation cohort, and test cohort, respectively). The calibration curves of the three cohorts displayed good agreement. The decision curve showed that the use of the 10%-60% threshold for identifying pregnant women with GDM who are at risk of delivering an LGA infant would result in a positive net benefit. CONCLUSION Our nomogram incorporated easily accessible risk factors, facilitating individualized prediction of pregnant women with GDM who are likely to deliver an LGA infant.

Abstract
BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVE Cholelithiasis is a common disease but pose significant global health and financial burdens. Mechanisms of the disease are associated with insulin resistance (IR), obesity, metabolic syndrome, and type 2 diabetes. Insulin resistance is commonly observed in cholelithiasis patients. More recently, the triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index has been proposed as an alternative marker of insulin resistance. In our study we aimed to understand whether the TyG index is correlated with HOMA-IR in cholelithiasis patients. And also we aimed the predict a cutoff value for determining insulin resistance in cholelithiasis patients. METHODS A total of 184 cholelithiasis patients were matched in terms of age, gender, and BMI. They were divided into two groups based on their Homa IR levels (IR and Non-IR group). This study was a retrospective, observational study and clinical data was obtained from electronic medical records. Cutoff value for Tyg index was established through ROC Analysis. Binary Logistic Regression was used to identify factors affecting insulin resistance. RESULTS A significant cutoff value was found for the TyG index in determining the presence of insulin resistance. Having a TyG index of ≥8.71 indicates the presence of insulin resistance. The sensitivity was 68.48%, the specificity was 58.70%. Binary Logistic Regression analyses showed that an increase in Tyg Index, waist circumference and waist-to-height ratio values increases the risk of insulin resistance by 2.705 (p = 0.001), 1.032 (p = 0.029), and 334.057 (p = 0.012) times respectively. CONCLUSION Our study indicated that TyG index is positively correlated with HOMA-IR. TyG index was found as a risk factor for insulin resistance.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Although studies have demonstrated the value of the triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index for cardiovascular disease (CVD) and cardiovascular mortality, however, few studies have shown that the TyG index is associated with all-cause or CVD mortality in young patients with diabetes. This study aimed to investigate the association between the TyG index and all-cause and CVD mortality in young patients with diabetes in the United States. METHODS Our study recruited 2440 young patients with diabetes from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 2001-2018. Mortality outcomes were determined by linking to National Death Index (NDI) records up to December 31, 2019. Cox regression modeling was used to investigate the association between TyG index and mortality in young patients with diabetes. The nonlinear association between TyG index and mortality was analyzed using restricted cubic splines (RCS), and a two-segment Cox proportional risk model was constructed for both sides of the inflection point. RESULTS During a median follow-up period of 8.2 years, 332 deaths from all causes and 82 deaths from cardiovascular disease were observed. Based on the RCS, the TyG index was found to have a U-shaped association with all-cause and CVD mortality in young patients with diabetes, with threshold values of 9.18 and 9.16, respectively. When the TyG index was below the threshold value (TyG index < 9.18 in all-cause mortality and < 9.16 in CVD mortality), its association with all-cause and CVD mortality was not significant. When the TyG index was above the threshold (TyG index ≥ 9.18 in all-cause mortality and ≥ 9.16 in CVD mortality), it showed a significant positive association with all-cause mortality and CVD mortality (HR 1.77, 95% CI 1.05-2.96 for all-cause mortality and HR 2.38, 95% CI 1.05-5.38 for CVD mortality). CONCLUSION Our results suggest a U-shaped association between TyG index and all-cause and CVD mortality among young patients with diabetes in the United States, with threshold values of 9.18 and 9.16 for CVD and all-cause mortality, respectively.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Insulin resistance (IR) is associated with an increased risk of adverse cardiovascular outcomes. The triglyceride-glucose index (TyG index) is a reliable marker of IR. No study has examined the impact of the TyG index on major adverse cardiac and cerebrovascular events (MACCEs) in RTRs. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the predictive value of the TyG index for MACCEs in RTRs. MATERIALS AND METHODS Non-diabetic patients undergoing renal transplantation were retrospectively enrolled. The patients were divided into two groups according to MACCE development. The cut-off value of the TyG index for MACCE was conducted. RESULTS The mean age of 522 patients was 41 (31-51) years, and 349 (66.9%) were male. During the 5.4-year follow-up, 84 (16%) MACCE were recorded. TyG index was significantly higher in the group that developed MACCE (p < 0,001). Cox regression analysis revealed that TyG index [HR: 3.297 (1.228-8.855), p = 0.018], left ventricle ejection fraction [HR: 0.934 (0.900-0.968), p < 0.001], cadaveric transplantation [HR: 8.886 (4.764-16.576), p < 0.001], graft survey [HR: 0.608 (0.542-0.682), p < 0.001)], and smoking [HR: 1.965 (1.117-3.456), p = 0.019] were independent predictors of MACCEs in nondiabetic RTRs. CONCLUSION TyG index is an independent predictor of MACCEs in non-diabetic RTRs. The widespread use of the TyG index may positively affect long-term treatment costs and survival.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The association between the triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index and arterial stiffness in individuals with normoglycaemia remains unclear. We aimed to evaluate the relationship between the TyG index and arterial stiffness in Japanese individuals with normoglycaemia, providing additional evidence for predicting early arterial stiffness. METHODS This study included 15,453 adults who participated in the NAGALA Physical Examination Project of the Murakami Memorial Hospital in Gifu, Japan, from 2004 to 2015. Data on clinical demographic characteristics and serum biomarker levels were collected. The TyG index was calculated from the logarithmic transformation of fasting triglycerides multiplied by fasting glucose, and arterial stiffness was measured using the estimated pulse wave velocity calculated based on age and mean blood pressure. The association between the TyG index and arterial stiffness was analysed using a logistic regression model. RESULTS The prevalence of arterial stiffness was 3.2% (500/15,453). After adjusting for all covariates, the TyG index was positively associated with arterial stiffness as a continuous variable (adjusted odds ratio (OR) = 1.86; 95% Confidence Interval = 1.45-2.39; P<0.001). Using the quartile as the cutoff point, a regression analysis was performed for arterial stiffness when the TyG index was converted into a categorical variable. After adjusting for all covariates, the OR showed an upward trend; the trend test was P<0.001. Subgroup analysis revealed a positive association between the TyG index and arterial stiffness in Japanese individuals with normoglycaemia and different characteristics. CONCLUSION The TyG index in Japanese individuals with normoglycaemia is significantly correlated with arterial stiffness, and the TyG index may be a predictor of early arterial stiffness.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Triglyceride glucose index (TyG index) was related with both type 2 diabetes (T2DM) and hypertension (HTN). Prospective studies linking the TyG index to the incidence of T2DM and HTN comorbidity remain unclear. This study aimed to to explore the longitudinal association between TyG and new-onset T2DM with HTN. METHODS 4,434 subjects (1249 males and 3185 females) without initial T2DM and HTN were followed up for 7 years. This study was conducted from November 2011 to August 2018 in the Gucheng, Laoshan and Jinding communities of Beijing. The incidence of T2DM with HTN during the 7-year follow-up was identified as the endpoint. The TyG index was divided into four quartiles: the < 25% level, the 25-50% level, the 50-75% level and the ≥ 75% level. The relationships between the TyG index and T2DM with HTN were evaluated by Cox proportional hazards regression models. RESULTS During 7 years, the augmented trend of T2DM with HTN was observed in the participants. After adjusting for all confounding factors, compared with those in the lowest quartile of TyG index, the population in the highest quartile of TyG index had a higher risk of T2DM with HTN (hazard ratio (HR), 2.878; 95% confidence intervals (95% CI), 1.230-6.731, P = 0.015), however, the association remained significant only in the female population (HR 2.753, 95% CI, 1.061-7.139, p = 0.037). The TyG had superior predictive ability of increased risk of T2DM with HTN for the populations of older age (≥ 65 years) (HR 2.694, 95% CI 1.212-5.989, p = 0.015), higher eGFR (≥ 90 mL/(min·1.73 m2)) (HR 2.603, 95% CI 1.164-5.818, p = 0.020) or obesity (BMI ≥ 28 kg/m2) (HR 2.547, 95% CI 1.001-6.478, p = 0.020). CONCLUSION A population with a higher TyG index level was more likely to have an enhanced incidence of T2DM and HTN comorbidity. TyG index could have the significance of clinical in early protection against T2DM with HTN.

Abstract
Background and aims Arterial stiffness (AS), quantified by pulse wave velocity (PWV), arises due to impaired arterial elastic tissue and smooth muscle dysfunction. We aimed to examine the longitudinal association of genetic, lipid and inflammation biomarkers with PWV and how these associations may change with aging. Materials and methods We utilized genotype and four time-point biomarker data from the SardiNIA cohort [n = 6,301; mean baseline age 43.3 (SD 17.3); 58% females]. To investigate the association of PWV with genetic variants, lipid, and inflammation biomarkers, we employed linear mixed modeling, using age as the time scale. Biomarkers exhibiting significant longitudinal associations were categorized into tertiles and individuals within the second tertile or those with heterozygous alleles were excluded, leaving a cohort of 2,000 individuals. This cohort was further divided into four risk groups: low genetic and low biomarker (L-L), low genetic and high biomarker (L-H), high genetic and low biomarker (H-L), and high genetic and high biomarker risk (H-H). Subsequent analyses focused on these risk groups to assess their association to PWV with time. Results Using the complete dataset, we found a significant longitudinal association of total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG), fibrinogen (FGN), and total white blood cell count (TWBC) with PWV, all with p < 3.33 × 10-3. After grouping, individuals with homogeneous risk alleles of SNP rs3742207 and high baseline TG levels (H-H group) exhibited a 1.39-fold higher PWV (m/s) (95% CI, 1.17-1.64, p = 1.21 × 10-4) compared to the L-L group. Similarly, individuals in the H-H group of rs3742207-TWBC combination showed 1.75 times higher PWV (95% CI, 1.48-0.2.07, p = 1.01 × 10-10) compared to the L-L group. Similar patterns were observed for groups based on SNP rs7152623-TWBC risk. Furthermore, these associations became more pronounced with increasing age (p < 3.33 × 10-3). Conclusion The longitudinal association of TG and TWBC biomarkers with PWV varied by SNPs rs3742207 and rs7152623 genotype. Further studies are warranted to investigate the function of genetics, lipids, and inflammation biomarkers on PWV change.

Abstract
Aim This study examined the association between the metabolic score for insulin resistance (METS-IR), a novel surrogate indicator of insulin resistance, and brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity (baPWV) in Japanese health check participants. Methods A cross-sectional research was conducted involving individuals in a program of medical health screening at the Medical Health Check-up Center in Japan. The study assessed the connection between METS-IR and baPWV in 912 participants who joined the program between 3/1/2004 and 12/31/2012. Serum laboratory tests and lifestyle surveys were the covariates. Multivariate linear regression analysis and subgroup analyses were performed. Results 912 participants were involved in this cross-sectional study. Adjusted for age, sex, BMI, AST, UA, HDL, eGFR, ankle-brachial index (ABI), alcohol consumption, and smoking status, multivariate linear regression analysis showed that METS-IR and baPWV showed a significant positive association (adjusted β=15.3, 95% confidence interval (CI): 6.61~23.98) with METS-IR as a continuous variable. When converting METS-IR to quartile categorical variables, higher quartile METS-IR indices had longer baPWV (Q3 vs Q1, β=86.14, 95% CI: 23.45~148.83; Q4 vs Q1, β=125.41, 95% CI: 39.99~210.84). In subgroup analysis, METS-IR was associated with baPWV in people with eGFR > 60 ml/min (adjusted β= 14.44, 95% CI: 5.61~23.26, P=0.001), none or light alcohol consumption (adjusted β=16.92, 95% CI: 6.85~27, P=0.001), non-smokers (adjusted β=15.48, 95% CI: 5.86~25.1, P=0.002), non-regular exercisers(adjusted β=17.34, 95% CI: 8.03~26.65, P<0.001), non-fatty liver (adjusted β=17.65, 95% CI: 5.92~29.39, P=0.003), and non-hypertensive (adjusted β=16.13, 95% CI:8.45~23.8, P<0.001). Conclusion METS-IR are remarkably associated with baPWV among health check-up participants in Gifu, Japan. As a simple, easily calculated predictor of arterial stiffness, METS-IR could be considered for primary care as a monitoring tool to identify people with high risk of cardiovascular disease in order to intervene early on risk factors. Future prospective, large-sample researches are still needed to confirm this.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD) is a rare but potentially life-threatening pathology and cases are especially seen in women under 50 years of age and with relatively fewer cardiovascular risk factors. Although risk factors facilitating the development of SCAD have been defined in the literature, modifiable risk factors remain unclear. In this study, it was aimed to investigate the relationship between the triglyceride glucose index (TyG) and the development of SCAD in the population of young women. METHODS The results of 281 patients were analyzed and compared with each other in terms of clinical, demographic, laboratory parameters, and coronary angiography results. RESULTS The mean age was 45 years and all of them were female. When the groups were compared, the TyG and inflammatory parameters were higher in the SCAD group (p < 0.001). When these two groups with low cardiovascular risk factors were compared in logistic regression analysis, high TyG was found to be an independent predictor of SCAD development in young women (p < 0.001). CONCLUSION As a result, our study shows that the development of these non-atherosclerotic conditions can be predicted by simple biochemical tests in young women with low atherosclerotic cardiovascular risk factors.

Abstract
Aim China has the highest rail transportation density in the world. Compared to other occupational populations, railway workers in China face increased risk of chronic non-communicable diseases. This study aims to investigate the relationship between the triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index and carotid artery plaque (CAP) in a population of railway workers in southwest China. Methods The cross-sectional study was conducted among 3169 railway workers who were categorized into four groups based on TyG index quartiles. The presence of CAP was assessed using carotid Doppler ultrasound. Logistic regression and restricted cubic spline analyses were used to estimate the association between TyG index and CAP, and subgroup analyses were performed based on age, blood pressure, metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD), smoking, drinking, and physical activity. Results Participants with higher TyG index quartiles had a higher prevalence of CAP, with 11.63%, 14.11%, 20.20%, and 18.56% from the first to fourth quartile, respectively. The multi-adjusted logistic regression models showed a positive association between TyG index and the risk of CAP (odds ratio [OR]: 1.22, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.06-1.41) when treated as a continuous variable. When analyzed as a categorical variable with increasing TyG index tertiles, the risk of CAP substantially increased with ORs (95% CIs) of 1.22 (0.90-1.65) for the second quartile, 1.70 (1.27-2.28) for the third quartile, and 1.46 (1.08-1.98) for the fourth quartile compared to the lowest quartile. Restricted cubic spline revealed that the association gradually strengthened with the increase of the TyG index below 9.56. Conclusion TyG index was significantly associated with CAP, notably in populations with elevated quartiles of TyG index among railway workers. Monitoring the TyG index could be a useful risk management strategy for CAP in occupation population.

Abstract
Background Obesity and overweight status increase the risk of cardiovascular disease. Diet quality can also predict the risk of cardiovascular diseases in obese and overweight patients. Therefore, in this study, we sought to examine the relationship between diet quality index (DQI) and cardiometabolic risk factors in obese and overweight women. Method A cross-sectional study was conducted on 197 Iranian women with a Body Mass Index (BMI) > 25, 18-48 years, and recruited from 20 Tehran Health Centers. Nutrition intake and DQI were assessed using a 147-item semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire (FFQ). Additionally, anthropometric measurements, body composition, biochemical evaluations, and cardiometabolic risk factors were evaluated. Results There was an association between DQI and waist-to-hip ratio (WHR), atherogenic index of plasma (AIP), and CHOLINDEX in obese women, after adjusting for potential confounders. Whereas, there were no significant associations of the tertiles of DQI compared with the first tertile in other cardiometabolic risk factors, before and after adjustment. Conclusion This study provides evidence that dietary intake and DQI are associated with cardiometabolic risk factors and that dietary modification may be a predictor for reducing WHR, AIP, and CHOLINDEX. However, more research is needed to develop a DQI that reflects changes in cardiometabolic risk factors by considering women's eating habits and patterns.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Enormous efforts have been made to evaluate reliable, simple and practical indicators for predicting patients at risk of progression of cardiovascular disease events, whereby bariatric surgery has remained understudied. Thus, we performed this study to assess the effect of bariatric surgery procedures on atherogenicity and insulin resistance indicators. DESIGN Cohort study. SETTING, PARTICIPANTS AND OUTCOME MEASURES Four hundred and forty-three class II obese (severely obese) patients who underwent sleeve gastrectomy, Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, or one anastomosis gastric bypass were followed up for 12 months after surgery. Atherosclerosis-related indicators were evaluated at baseline, as well as 6 and 12 months after surgery. RESULTS Atherogenic index of plasma, lipoprotein combine index, atherogenic coefficient, cholesterol index, Castelli's risk indices I and II, and triglyceride to high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol ratio (p<0.01) improved after 12 months. Additionally, bariatric surgery yielded a significantly reduced triglyceride glucose index. There was no significant difference between procedures in terms of indicators. The Spearman correlation test showed a significant inverse correlation between weight plus fat mass and atherosclerosis-related indicators as well as a positive correlation between percentage of excess weight loss and these indicators. CONCLUSIONS This study demonstrated three bariatric surgery procedures' ability to improve atherogenicity and insulin resistance in patients with obesity class II. The anti-atherogenicity effects can be partly assigned to the reduction of body weight and adipose tissue. Nevertheless, further studies with larger sample sizes and longer follow-ups are required to confirm our results.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The triglyceride and glucose (TyG) index has been linked to various cardiovascular diseases. However, it's still unclear whether the TyG index is associated with arterial stiffness and coronary artery calcification (CAC). METHODS We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of relevant studies until September 2022 in the PubMed, Cochrane Library, and Embase databases. We used a random-effects model to calculate the pooled effect estimate and the robust error meta-regression method to summarize the exposure-effect relationship. RESULTS Twenty-six observational studies involving 87,307 participants were included. In the category analysis, the TyG index was associated with the risk of arterial stiffness (odds ratio [OR]: 1.83; 95% CI 1.55-2.17, I2 = 68%) and CAC (OR: 1.66; 95% CI 1.51-1.82, I2 = 0). The per 1-unit increment in the TyG index was also associated with an increased risk of arterial stiffness (OR: 1.51, 95% CI 1.35-1.69, I2 = 82%) and CAC (OR: 1.73, 95% CI 1.36-2.20, I2 = 51%). Moreover, a higher TyG index was shown to be a risk factor for the progression of CAC (OR = 1.66, 95% CI 1.21-2.27, I2 = 0, in category analysis, OR = 1.47, 95% CI 1.29-1.68, I2 = 41% in continuity analysis). There was a positive nonlinear association between the TyG index and the risk of arterial stiffness (Pnonlinearity < 0.001). CONCLUSION An elevated TyG index is associated with an increased risk of arterial stiffness and CAC. Prospective studies are needed to assess causality.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Coronary microvascular dysfunction (CMD) is a strong determinant of prognosis in patients with chronic coronary syndrome (CCS). The triglyceride-glucose index (TyG index), an alternative method to evaluate insulin resistance, is positively correlated with the incidence and adverse outcomes of cardiovascular diseases. However, the relationship between the TyG index and the presence and prognosis of CMD in CCS patients has not been investigated. Therefore, we aimed to evaluate the association between the TyG index and the presence and clinical outcomes of CMD among CCS patients. METHODS CCS patients who underwent coronary angiography between June 2015 to June 2019 were included. The TyG index was calculated as Ln[fasting triglycerides (mg/dL) × fasting blood glucose (mg/dL)/2]. Coronary angiography‑derived index of microvascular resistance (caIMR) was used to measure microvascular function, and CMD was defined as caIMR ≥ 25U. Patients with CMD were divided into three groups (T1, T2, and T3 groups) according to TyG tertiles. The primary endpoint was major adverse cardiac event (MACE). RESULTS Of 430 CCS patients, 221 patients had CMD. CMD patients had significantly higher TyG index than those without CMD. Sixty-three MACE was recorded during the follow-up duration among CMD patients, and the incidence rate of MACE was higher in the T3 group compared to T1/T2 groups (39.2% vs. 20.5% vs. 25.7%; P = 0.035). Multivariable logistic regression analysis showed that the TyG index was an independent predictor of CMD (OR, 1.436; 95% CI, 1.014-2.034; P = 0.042). Compared to the T1 group, the T3 group strongly correlated with the risk of MACE in CMD patients even after adjusting for additional confounding risk factors (HR, 2.132; 95%CI, 1.066-4.261; P = 0.032). CONCLUSION TyG index is significantly associated with the risk of CMD, and it is an independent predictor of MACE among CMD patients with CCS. This study suggests that the TyG index has important clinical significance for the early prevention and risk stratification of CMD.

Abstract
PURPOSE Diabetes is the leading cause of kidney disease. Up to 40% of the population with diabetes experience diabetic kidney disease (DKD). The correlation of DKD with insulin resistance (IR) indices has been shown in previous studies. In this study, the objective was to evaluate surrogate IR indices, including the Triglyceride-Glucose (TyG) index, Visceral Adiposity Index (VAI), Lipid Accumulation Product (LAP), and Homeostasis Model Assessment of Insulin Resistance (HOMA-IR) to find the most valuable index for the correlation between albuminuria and IR in the type 2 diabetes (T2D) population. Albuminuria is defined as urine albumin excretion of > 30 mg/day. METHODS In this cross-sectional study, 2934 participants were enrolled and evaluated for urinary albumin excretion, and albuminuria was detected in 526 of the entries. The logistic regression models and Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) curve analysis were performed to assess the relationship of TyG index, VAI, LAP, and HOMA-IR's with albuminuria in patients with T2D. RESULTS The TyG index had the highest association (OR 1.67) with the presence of albuminuria in patients with T2D, followed by HOMA-IR (OR 1.127), VAI (OR 1.028), and LAP (OR 1.004). These four indices remained independent after adjustment for multiple confounders. Based on the ROC curve, TyG revealed the best area under the curve (AUC) for revealing albuminuria with sufficient accuracy (AUC: 0.62) in comparison with other measured indices. The calculated TyG index cut-off point for the presence of albuminuria was 9.39. CONCLUSION Among the indices, TyG index had the most significant correlation with albuminuria in patients with T2D.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) has a higher prevalence worldwide, and its pathogenesis is not clear. Genetic factors, dyslipidemia and dysglycemia have been proven to be associated with NAFLD. It has not been reported whether the triglyceride glucose index (TyG), which is estimated by triglyceride and fasting glucose, has a relationship with NAFLD in people from North China. Whether the CDKAL1 gene rs10946398 SNP, which has been found to be associated with BMI, has a relationship with TyG and NAFLD is not clear. METHODS We recruited a total of 1760 subjects in this study, and we measured the clinical characteristics, abdominal ultrasound, and genotype of those participants. RESULTS The results showed that 527 (29.9%) subjects suffered from NAFLD, the TyG index was associated with NAFLD (OR=5.456, 95% CI [3.526~8.442]), and the CDKAL1 gene rs10946398 SNP has a relationship with NAFLD (OR=1.509, 95% CI [1.046~2.178]). The distribution of the C allele of rs10946398 was statistically significant at different levels of the TyG index. CONCLUSIONS We identified an association between the rs10946398 genotypes of CDKAL1 and NAFLD and the TyG index, and the TyG index was related to the risk of NAFLD.

Abstract
Background Previous research has supported the association between the triglyceride-glucose index (TyG index) and the incidence and prognosis of cardiovascular disease. However, the association between the TyG index and the prognosis of patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) without diabetes mellitus (DM) who underwent emergency percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) with drug-eluting stents (DESs) has not been thoroughly investigated, and these patients may easily be neglected. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the association between the TyG index and major adverse cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events (MACCEs) in Chinese ACS patients without DM who underwent emergency PCI with DES. Methods The total number of ACS patients without DM who underwent emergency PCI with DES for this study was 1650. Ln [fasting triglycerides (mg/dL) ×fasting plasma glucose (mg/dL)/2] is the formula used to calculate the TyG index. According to the TyG index, we classified the patients into two groups. The frequency of the following endpoint events was calculated and compared between the two groups: all-cause death, non-fatal myocardial infarction (MI), non-fatal ischemia stroke, ischemia-driven revascularization and cardiac rehospitalization. Results After a median of 47 months of follow-up [47 (40, 54)], 437 (26.5%) endpoint events were recorded in total. The TyG index was further demonstrated to be independent of MACCE by multivariable Cox regression analysis (hazard ratio [HR], 1.493; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.230-1.812; p<0.001). The TyG index≥7.08 group had a considerably greater incidence of MACCE (30.3% vs. 22.7% in the TyG index<7.08 group, p<0.001), cardiac death (4.0% vs. 2.3% in the TyG index<7.08 group, p=0.047), and ischemia-driven revascularization (5.7% vs. 3.6% in the TyG index<7.08 group, p=0.046) than the TyG index<7.08 group. Between the two groups, there was no discernible difference in all-cause death (5.6% vs. 3.8% in the TyG index<7.08 group, p=0.080), non-fatal MI (1.0% vs. 0.2% in the TyG index<7.08 group, p=0.057), non-fatal ischemic stroke (1.6% vs. 1.0% in the TyG index<7.08 group, p=0.272), and cardiac rehospitalization (16.5% vs. 14.1% in the TyG index<7.08 group, p=0.171). Conclusion For ACS patients without DM who received emergency PCI with DES, the TyG index might be an independent predictor of MACCE.

Abstract
In the U.S. general population, there is a lack of understanding regarding the association between the systemic immune inflammation (SII) index and estimated pulse wave velocity (ePWV), atherogenic index of plasma (AIP), and triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index and cardiovascular disease (CVD). As a result, the objective of our research was to investigate the association between the SII index and ePWV, AIP, and TyG index and incident CVD. We used the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) data from 1999 to 2018 to conduct this study. The correlation between the SII index and ePWV, AIP, and TyG index was examined using generalized additive models with smooth functions. In addition, the association between SII index and triglyceride (TC), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), and fast glucose (FBG) also were explored. Finally, we further performed multivariable logistic regression analysis, restricted cubic spline (RCS) plots, and subgroup analysis to study the connection between the SII index and CVD. Our analysis included 17389 subjects from the NHANES database. A substantial positive association existed between SII, WV, and the TyG index. In addition, with the increase of the SII index, AIP showed a trend of decreasing first, then rising, and then decreasing. The SII index was inversely and linearly associated with triglyceride (TG), while positively and linearly associated with fast glucose (FBG). However, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) had a tendency of first declining, then climbing, and finally falling with the rise in the SII index. After adjusting for potential confounders, compared with the lowest quartiles, the odds ratios with 95% confidence intervals for CVD across the quartiles were 0.914 (0.777, 1.074), 0.935 (0.779, 1.096), and 1.112 (0.956, 1.293) for SII index. The RCS plot showed an inverse U-shaped curve relationship between the SII index and CVD. Overall, this study found a strong correlation between a higher SII index and ePWV and the TyG index. Additionally, these cross-sectional data also revealed a U-shaped connection between the SII index and CVD.

Abstract
We evaluated if admissiontriglyceride-glucose index (TyG index) correlated with the anatomical synergy between percutaneous coronary intervention with taxus and cardiac surgery (SYNTAX) score 2 in non-ST elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI), nondiabetic patients. Methods SYNTAX score 2 (SSII) was retrospectively evaluated in 260 nondiabetic patients hospitalized with NSTEMI who underwent coronary angiography. The TyG index was calculated using the following equation: log [fasting triglycerides (mg/dl) × fasting glucose (mg/dl)/2]. We stratified patients according to tertiles of SSII (≤21.5, 21.5-30.6, and ≥30.6). These score ranges were defined as SSII low, SSII mid, and SSII high, respectively. Results The average age of the patients was 57.2 ± 10.9 years; 135 patients (52.2%) were males. The average TyG index was 8.68 ± 0.12, and SSII was 18.9 ± 9.9. A moderate correlation was found between TyG index and SSII (r = 0.347; P < 0.001) and TyG index was independent risk factors for SSII high [odds ratio (OR), 6.0; 95% CI, 2.7-17.0; P < 0.001]. Conclusion In nondiabetic patients with NSTEMI, TyG index correlated with the SSII.

Abstract
PURPOSE To study the relationship between the TyG index and the risk of AAC. METHODS We enrolled 1,486 participants from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES). The TyG index was calculated in the log-transformed of triglycerides multipled by glucose, and the presence of AAC was diagnosed as AAC score above than 0. RESULTS Our suggested found that TyG level was positively correlated with the presence of AAC and log-transformed AAC score. After adjusted for other variables, comparing with the lowest quartile of TyG index, the highest quartile of TyG level was significantly associated with the presence of AAC (OR 2.12, 95%CI 1.05-4.35, p = 0.038) and severe AAC (OR 2.12, 95%CI 1.05-4.35, p = 0.038). CONCLUSIONS TyG index was significantly associated with the risk of AAC and severe AAC, which could be a marker in clinical practice.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The associations between the long-term triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index level and variability and clinical outcomes in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) have not been well studied. METHODS A total of 1,694 ACS patients with at least three postbaseline TyG index measurements within 2 years after PCI were included in the present study. The TyG index was defined as ln (fasting triglycerides [mg/dL] × fasting plasma glucose [mg/dL]/2). Multivariable-adjusted Cox proportional hazard models were used to examine the association between baseline and mean TyG index levels and TyG index variability and the risk of major adverse cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events (MACCEs). RESULTS During the median follow-up of 31 months, the overall incidence of MACCE was 5.9%. Both high baseline and mean TyG index levels were independently associated with an increased risk of MACCEs after adjustment for multiple potential confounders (hazard ratio [HR) 1.76 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.06-2.93; and HR 2.73 95% CI 1.57-4.74). Similarly, higher TyG index variability by successive variation (SD) was well related to a higher prevalence of MACCEs (HR 2.17 95% CI 1.28-3.68). In addition, the mean TyG index level showed a stronger risk prediction for MACCEs than the baseline TyG index level and TyG index-SD (AUCs 0.618 vs 0.566 vs 0.566). CONCLUSIONS The risk of MACCEs significantly increased with higher baseline and mean TyG index levels, as well as TyG index variability, in patients with ACS undergoing PCI. In particular, the mean TyG index level exhibited the highest predicting ability for MACCEs. Therefore, monitoring the long-term pattern of the TyG index deserves attention in clinical practice.

Abstract
Aim: This work was designed to explore the role of the triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index in the prediction of long-term mortality in patients with lower extremity artery disease (LEAD) undergoing endovascular revascularization. Methods: The records of 723 patients with symptomatic LEAD undergoing endovascular revascularization between January 2016 and December 2021, with long-term follow-up until December 2021, were analyzed. Results: The rate of long-term mortality was significantly higher among patients with high TyG index than patients with low TyG index. Conclusion: The TyG index is an independent predictor of long-term mortality in patients with LEAD undergoing endovascular revascularization.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The triglyceride and glucose (TyG) index is a useful marker of insulin resistance and is a predictor of several metabolic diseases. The aim of this study was to evaluate the association between the TyG index and all-cause or cardiovascular mortality using a large population-based cohort study database. METHODS A total of 255,508 subjects in the Kangbuk Samsung Health Study cohort were enrolled. Cox proportional hazards models were used to analyze the risk of mortality. RESULTS During a median 5.7-year follow-up, the cumulative all-cause and cardiovascular mortality was 0.47% and 0.07%. There was a nonlinear relationship between the TyG index and death, and moving from moderate to high, the TyG index levels were associated with an increase in the risk of death. The hazard ratio (HR) for all-cause and cardiovascular mortality of the TyG index was 1.21 [95% confidence interval (CI) 1.14-1.28] and 1.45 (95% CI 1.26-1.66) in the unadjusted model, respectively. After adjustment for covariates, the association between the TyG index and all-cause and cardiovascular mortality was attenuated. In the multivariable-adjusted model, the TyG index was associated with an elevated risk of all-cause mortality in women (HR 1.13, 95% CI 1.02-1.26) and a decreased risk in men (HR 0.92, 95% CI 0.85-0.99). The association between cardiovascular mortality and the TyG index was not statistically significant among either men or women in the multivariable-adjusted model. CONCLUSIONS The TyG index in a young, relatively healthy, population is associated with an elevated risk of all-cause and cardiovascular mortality. Abstract
Nondipper hypertensive patients have an increased incidence of damage to end organs, including the brain, heart, and kidney, and a worse cardiovascular prognosis. The triglyceride glucose (TyG) index is a reliable indicator of insulin resistance (IR) and is closely related to the traditional risk factors of cardiovascular disease. To the best of our knowledge, whether there is a relationship between the TyG index and impaired diurnal blood pressure (BP) has not been investigated. This study aimed to compare the TyG index between normotensive, nondipper, and dipper hypertensive patients. A total of 1037 patients grouped according to the results of ambulatory BP monitoring were included, with group 1 including dipper hypertensive ( n = 368), group 2 including nondipper hypertensive ( n = 496), and group 3 including normotensive control ( n = 173) patients. In both the univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses, TyG index [odds ratio (OR), 4.656; 95% confidence interval (CI), 3.014-7.193; P < 0.001], age (OR, 1.011; 95% CI, 1.002-1.021; P = 0.018), and glomerular filtration rate (GFR) (OR, 0.979; 95% CI, 0.971-0.987; P < 0.001) were independent predictors of nondipper hypertension (HT). In the ROC analysis, a TyG index cutoff value of at least 4.74 predicted nondipper hypertensive patients with a sensitivity of 59.7%, and a specificity of 59.9% [area under the curve = 0.647 (0.614-0.680); 95% CI; P < 0.001]. We showed that TyG index, age, and GFR are independent predictors in patients with nondipper HT. TyG index, a simple, cost-effective, and rapid tool can predict the nondipper pattern in essential HT.

Abstract
Purpose To evaluate the relationships of the triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index with pregnancy-related complications (PRCs) and to clarify the predictability of the TyG index for PRCs. Patients and Methods Totally of 11,387 women with a singleton pregnancy were prospectively followed until after delivery. Maternal fasting lipids and glucose concentration were measured in the first trimester (11 weeks gestation on average). The TyG index was calculated as ln [triglyceride (mg/dL) × fasting plasma glucose (mg/dL)/2]. We used generalized linear models to calculate the relative risks and 95% confidence intervals. Receiver-operating characteristic curve analysis was employed to assess the ability of the TyG index to predict the risks of PRCs. Results Smooth spline reveals that the probability of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is intensified with the increasing TyG index. Multivariate logistic regression adjusted for risk factors demonstrates a 1-unit and a 1-SD increment in the TyG index raises the risk of GDM by 3.63 and 1.57 times, respectively. Identically, the risk of GDM maximizes in the TyG quintile 5 (OR: 3.14; 95% CI: 2.55~3.85) relative to the lowest TyG index group. However, no association between TyG index and the risk of other PRCs was observed after full adjustment. The area under receiver operating characteristic curves is 0.647 (95% CI: 0.632-0.66) for GDM, and the optimal predictive cut-off is 8.55, with a specificity of 0.679 and sensitivity of 0.535. Conclusion The first-trimester TyG index is significantly associated with the risk of incident GDM, while the relationships between the TyG index and other PRCs need further exploration.

Abstract
PURPOSE The increase in cardiovascular risk after the menopausal transition remains partly explained until today. Further research is needed to identify risk factors potentially modifiable by primary prevention practices. This cross-sectional study, part of a larger prospective project, aims to investigate possible associations between dietary patterns and indices of vascular structure and function among healthy postmenopausal women. METHODS Postmenopausal women (n = 310) without clinically overt cardiovascular disease were recruited consecutively from a University Menopause Clinic over three years. Dietary intake was assessed by a validated food frequency questionnaire and the MedDietScore. In addition, we assessed anthropometric/biochemical parameters, including the Triglyceride-glucose index (TyG-Index), body fat distribution [triceps skinfold (TSF), mid-upper arm circumference (MUAC)] and physical activity. The vascular assessment included carotid-femoral pulse wave velocity (PWV), carotid and femoral-artery intima-media thickness (IMT) and atheromatous plaques presence. RESULTS Consumption of non-refined cereals was associated with carotid-bulb IMT (R2 = 5.5% b-coefficient = -0.142; p = 0.011), adjusting for age, physical activity, lipids, systolic blood pressure, smoking, body mass index, insulin resistance, and daily energy intake. PWV was associated with the intake of total dairy products (R2 = 27.3%, b-coefficient = -0.117; p = 0.017). Higher red meat consumption was related to a greater TyG-index (Model 1, R2 = 14.3%, b-coefficient=0.121; p = 0.048), an association mediated by total daily energy intake. Higher consumption of alcohol, as well as the MedDietScore, were inversely associated with TSF measurements, significant after Bonferroni correction. CONCLUSION Dietary patterns are associated with metabolic indices and subclinical atherosclerosis in postmenopausal women independently of traditional cardiovascular risk factors, total energy intake or physical activity.

Abstract
Background The triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index is a novel marker representing the degree of insulin resistance (IR) and is closely related to cardiovascular diseases. However, the association between the TyG index and vascular function in patients with acute ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) remains unknown. Materials and methods This study was a post hoc analysis of a multicenter, prospective cohort study. In this study, patients with STEMI who underwent PCI were included, and coronary angiography data were analyzed by Quantitative coronary angiography (QCA) and quantitative flow ratio (QFR). In addition, the TyG index was calculated as follows: Ln [fasting triglyceride (mg/dl) × fasting blood glucose (mg/dl) × 1/2]. According to the post-PCI QFR, patients were divided into two groups: post-PCI QFR ≤ 0.92 group and post-PCI QFR > 0.92 group. Construction of logistic regression model to explore the relationship between the TyG index and post-PCI QFR. Results A total of 241 STEMI patients were included in this study. Compared with patients in the post-PCI QFR > 0.92 group, the TyG index was higher in the post-PCI QFR ≤ 0.92 group. Logistic regression model showed that after adjusting for other confounding factors, the TyG index was positively correlated with the risk of post-PCI QFR ≤ 0.92 (OR = 1.697, 95% CI 1.171–2.460, P = 0.005). Restricted cubic splines showed the cutoff value of TyG index associated with post-PCI QFR ≤ 0.92 risk was 9.75. Conclusion The TyG index was associated with the risk of post-PCI QFR ≤ 0.92 in STEMI patients. The risk of post-PCI QFR ≤ 0.92 increased when the TyG index exceeded 9.75.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The triglyceride glucose (TyG) index is closely associated with subclinical atherosclerosis. However, the association remains inconclusive among obese and nonobese individuals. METHODS This prospective study was conducted in 5751 adults with normal carotid intima-media thickness (CIMT) at baseline. We divided the population into four groups based on the TyG index, which was calculated by the following formula: Ln (fasting triglycerides [mg/dL] × fasting glucose [mg/dL]/2). Information on CIMT was acquired by ultrasonography. Incident elevated CIMT was defined as IMT values greater than 0.9 mm at follow-up. Odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) of the associations between TyG index and elevated CIMT were estimated using multivariable logistic regression models. RESULTS After a median follow-up of 4.3 years, 722 (12.6%) individuals had progressed to elevated CIMT. Compared with the second quartile of the TyG index, the first and fourth quartile both conferred higher risks of elevated CIMT after adjusting for potential confounders. In the total population, the ORs for the first and fourth quartile were 1.29 (95% CI, 1.00-1.66) and 1.42 (95% CI, 1.11-1.83), respectively. Restricted cubic splines demonstrated an approximately U-shaped association between TyG index and elevated CIMT among the total and nonobese adults (P for nonlinearity <.05), but not in those with general or abdominal obesity. CONCLUSIONS A U-shaped association was observed between TyG index and elevated CIMT only among nonobese Chinese adults.

Abstract
Background The triglyceride–glucose (TyG) index, which is a reliable surrogate marker of insulin resistance (IR), has been associated with cardiovascular diseases. However, evidence of the impact of the TyG index on the severity of coronary artery disease (CAD) is limited. This study investigated the relationship between the TyG index and CAD severity of individuals with different glucose metabolic statuses. Methods This study enrolled 2792 participants with CAD in China between January 1, 2018 and December 31, 2021. All participants were divided into groups according to the tertiles of the TyG index as follows: T1 group, TyG index < 6.87; T2 group, TyG index ≥ 6.87 to < 7.38; and T3 group, TyG index ≥ 7.38. The glucose metabolic status was classified as normal glucose regulation, pre-diabetes mellitus (pre-DM), and diabetes mellitus according to the standards of the American Diabetes Association. CAD severity was determined by the number of stenotic vessels (single-vessel CAD versus multi-vessel CAD). Results We observed a significant relationship between the TyG index and incidence of multi-vessel CAD. After adjusting for sex, age, body mass index, smoking habits, alcohol consumption, hypertension, estimated glomerular filtration rate, antiplatelet drug use, antilipidemic drug use, and antihypertensive drug use in the logistic regression model, the TyG index was still an independent risk factor for multi-vessel CAD. Additionally, the highest tertile of the TyG group (T3 group) was correlated with a 1.496-fold risk of multi-vessel CAD compared with the lowest tertile of the TyG group (T1 group) (odds ratio [OR], 1.496; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.183–1.893; P < 0.001) in the multivariable logistic regression model. Furthermore, a dose–response relationship was observed between the TyG index and CAD severity (non-linear P = 0.314). In the subgroup analysis of different glucose metabolic statuses, the T3 group (OR, 1.541; 95% CI 1.013–2.344; P = 0.043) were associated with a significantly higher risk of multi-vessel CAD in individuals with pre-DM. Conclusions An increased TyG index was associated with a higher risk of multi-vessel CAD. Our study indicated that TyG as an estimation index for evaluating IR could be a valuable predictor of CAD severity, especially for individuals with pre-DM.

Abstract
Background Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is associated with high rates of cardiovascular events. We here explored whether the recently described triglycerides-glucose index (TyG) predicted the incidence of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) in these patients. Methods This observationa study was undertaken of 1142 persons with CKD and free from diabetes and 460 controls from the prospective NEFRONA study. The study exposure was the TyG index at cohort inclusion. The study outcome was MACE (cardiovascular death, nonfatal myocardial infarction, nonfatal stroke and hospitalization for unstable angina). Covariates included demographics, comorbidities, lipid profile, renal function and glycaemic control. Cox regression models evaluated the association between TyG index and 4-point MACE in patients with CKD. Results TyG was higher [median 8.63 (interquartile range 8.32-8.95)] in patients with CKD compared with controls (P < 0.001). TyG increased across albuminuria categories but was similar for glomerular filtration rate categories among patients with CKD stages 3-5. During 46 ± 13 months of follow-up, 49 (4.3%) MACE were registered. TyG predicted the occurrence of MACE {hazard ratio (HR) 1.95 [95% confidence interval (CI) 1.11-3.40] per TyG unit increase; and HR 2.29 (95% CI 1.24-4.20] for TyG values above the median of 8.63 units}. Sensitivity analysis for subgroups of participants according to age, kidney function, body mass index and imaging evidence of atherosclerosis yielded similar results, as did adjusted analysis. Neither triglycerides nor glucose alone was associated with MACE. Conclusions The TyG index is associated with the occurrence of major cardiovascular events in persons free from diabetes with non-dialysis dependent CKD.

Abstract
Background Abnormal glycolipid metabolism plays a crucial role in hypertension. While an elevated triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index has been recognized as a risk factor for developing hypertension, the associations between the TyG index and different hypertension subtypes, namely, isolated systolic hypertension (ISH), isolated diastolic hypertension (IDH), and systolic-diastolic hypertension (SDH), remain unclear. This study was designed to investigate the associations between the TyG index and hypertension subtypes in a general Chinese population. Materials and methods In a sample of 16,793 participants from Shandong Province, China, multivariate logistic regression analyses were performed to examine the associations between the TyG index and different hypertension subtypes. Loess smooth curves were fitted to visualize the trends. Stratified analyses were conducted to further assess the potential interactions in the associations between the TyG index and different hypertension subtypes. Results A higher TyG index was associated with an increased odds of having IDH (OR = 2.94, 95% CI: 1.66–5.23) and SDH (OR = 1.82, 95% CI: 1.33–2.49), whereas no apparent relationship was observed between TyG index and ISH. With respect to sex, the effect of TyG index on having IDH and SDH was significant in women, but not in men. Participants with lower lipid profiles and glucose levels demonstrated a stronger strength of association between the TyG index and IDH as compared with the TyG index-SDH association. Stratified analysis showed that participants with a higher TyG index were more than 3 times more likely to have IDH and SDH among persons aged 18–42 years. Significant interactions were observed between TyG index and sex, age, and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) in the SDH group, and a significant interaction was also found between TyG index and body mass index (BMI) in the ISH group. Conclusion Triglyceride-glucose index may potentially serve as a novel indicator for IDH and SDH. Our findings could also inform the development and implementation of targeted screening for hypertension.

Abstract
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death in patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Curcumin has been shown to exert glucose-lowering and anti-atherosclerotic effects in type 2 diabetes. Hence, we investigated curcumin’s effects on atherogenesis markers, fatty liver, insulin resistance, and adipose tissue-related indicators in patients with NAFLD. In this secondary analysis of a 12-week randomized controlled trial, fifty-two patients with NAFLD received lifestyle modification. In addition, they were randomly allocated to either the curcumin group (1.5 g/day) or the matching placebo. Outcome variables (assessed before and after the study) were: the fatty liver index (FLI), hepatic steatosis index (HSI), fatty liver score (FLS), BMI, age, ALT, TG score (BAAT), triglyceride glucose (TyG) index, Castelli risk index-I (CRI-I), Castelli risk index-II (CRI-II), TG/HDL–C ratio, atherogenic coefficient (AC), atherogenic index of plasma (AIP), lipoprotein combine index (LCI), cholesterol index (CHOLINDEX), lipid accumulation product (LAP), body adiposity index (BAI), visceral adiposity index (VAI), metabolic score for visceral fat (METS-VF), visceral adipose tissue (VAT), and waist-to-height ratio (WHtR) values. The TyG index decreased in the curcumin group and increased in the placebo group, with a significant difference between the groups (p = 0.029). However, a between-group change was not significant after adjustment for multiple testing. Other indices were not significantly different between the groups either before or after multiple test correction. After the intervention, there was a lower number of patients with severe fatty liver (FLI ≥ 60) and metabolic syndrome in the curcumin group compared to the placebo (p = 0.021 and p = 0.012, respectively). In conclusion, curcumin offers no additional cardiometabolic benefits to lifestyle intervention in patients with NAFLD.

Abstract
Objective We aimed to explore the association between the triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index, a marker of insulin resistance (IR), and vascular target organ damage (TOD) in a Beijing community-based population, China. Methods A total of 6,015 participants from an atherosclerosis cohort survey performed in the Shijingshan District in Beijing, China were included in our analysis. Vascular TOD, such as carotid-femoral pulse wave velocity (cfPWV), brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity (baPWV), and the urine albumin-to-creatinine ratio (UACR) were all evaluated. Results The overall mean age of all the participants was 62.35 years, 3,951 (65.69%) were female, and mean TyG index was 8.81. In univariable regression analyzes, an increased TyG index was associated with higher cfPWV, baPWV, lnUACR, and higher risk of cfPWV ≥ 10 m/s, baPWV ≥ 1,800 cm/s, and UACR ≥ 30 mg/g, respectively. Multivariable regression analyzes showed subjects with the TyG index in top tertile had a significant increase in cfPWV (β = 0.29 m/s; 95% confidence interval [95% CI] 0.19-0.40; p fortrend < 0.001), baPWV (β = 69.28 cm/s; 95% CI 50.97-87.59; p fortrend < 0.001), lnUACR (β = 0.23; 95% CI 0.13-0.34; p fortrend < 0.001), and had a higher risk of cfPWV ≥ 10 m/s (odds ratio [OR] = 1.47; 95% CI 1.17-1.85; p fortrend < 0.001), baPWV ≥ 1,800 cm/s (OR = 1.79; 95% CI 1.48-2.17; p fortrend < 0.001), and UACR ≥ 30 mg/g (OR = 1.71; 95% CI 1.30-2.24; p fortrend < 0.001) after fully adjusting for age, sex, body mass index (BMI), systolic blood pressure (SBP), diastolic blood pressure (DBP), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR), self-reported coronary heart disease (CHD) and stroke, antihypertensive drugs, hypoglycemic drugs, and lipid-lowering drugs. Consistent conclusions were obtained in the subgroups without hypoglycemic and lipid-lowering medications or aged younger than 65 years old. Conclusions The TyG index was positively associated with artery stiffness and nephric microvascular damage in a Beijing community-based population in China. This result provides evidence that the TyG index may serve as a simple and effective indicator to reflect vascular TOD.

Abstract
Data are limited on the relationship between the cardio–ankle vascular index (CAVI) and non-insulin-based insulin resistance (IR) indices, including the triglyceride to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio (TG/HDL-C), fasting triglyceride and glucose index (TyG), and metabolic score for IR (METS-IR). In this study, we explored the relationship between TG/HDL-C, TyG, METS-IR, and the risk of increased arterial stiffness (CAVI ≥ 8.0) and compared their ability to detect arterial stiffness in the non-hypertensive Chinese population. A total of 3,265 non-hypertensive subjects were included. Spearman’s and partial correlation analyses were used to assess the relationship between non-insulin-based IR indices and CAVI. The correlation between these indices and the risk of a CAVI ≥ 8.0 was explored by multiple logistic regression analysis. The area under the receiver-operating characteristic curve was used to compare the ability of TG/HDL-C, TyG, and METS-IR to detect a CAVI ≥ 8.0. After adjustment for confounding factors, linear regression analysis showed that the CAVI changed by 0.092 [95% confidence interval (CI) 0.035–0.149] per standard deviation increase in TyG. While, this linear relationship was not found when analyzing TG/HDL-C and METS-IR. Multiple logistic regression analysis showed that the proportion of patients with CAVI ≥ 8.0 in the fourth quartile of TG/HDL-C [Q4 vs. Q1: odds ratio (OR) 2.434, 95% CI 1.489–3.975], TyG (Q4 vs. Q1: OR 2.346, 95% CI 1.413–3.896), and METS-IR (Q4 vs. Q1: OR 2.699, 95% CI 1.235–5.897) was significantly higher than that in the lowest quartile. The area under the curve that could discriminate CAVI ≥ 8.0 was 0.598 (95% CI 0.567–0.629) for TG/HDL-C, 0.636 (95% CI 0.606–0.667) for TyG, and 0.581 (95% CI 0.550–0.613) for METS-IR. In this study, we demonstrated a significant association between increased arterial stiffness and non-insulin-based IR indices. Among them, TyG showed better discriminatory ability than TG/HDL-C or METS-IR.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Triglyceride (TG) and its related metabolic indices, all recognized as surrogates of insulin resistance, have been demonstrated to be relevant to clinical prognosis. However, the relative value of these TG-related indices for predicting cardiovascular events among patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) has not been examined. METHODS The TG, the triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index, the atherogenic index of plasma, TG to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio, and the lipoprotein combine index were assessed in 1694 ACS patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention. The primary endpoint was major adverse cardiovascular event (MACE), which was the composite of all-cause mortality, stroke, myocardial infarction, or unplanned repeat revascularization. RESULTS During a median follow-up of 31 months, 345 patients (20.4%) had MACE. The risk of the MACE was increased with higher TG and the four TG-derived metabolic indices [TG-adjusted hazard ratio (HR) = 1.002, 95% CI: 1.001-1.003; TyG index-adjusted HR = 1.736, 95% CI: 1.398-2.156; atherogenic index of plasma-adjusted HR = 2.513, 95% CI: 1.562-4.043; TG to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio-adjusted HR = 1.148, 95% CI: 1.048-1.258; and lipoprotein combine index-adjusted HR = 1.009, 95% CI: 1.004-1.014; P < 0.001 for all indices]. TG and all the four indices significantly improved the predictive ability for MACE in addition to the baseline model. Among them, TyG index showed the best ability for predicting MACE compared with the other three indices from all the three measurements ( P < 0.05 for all comparison). CONCLUSIONS TG and TG-derived metabolic indices were all strongly associated with MACE among ACS patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention. Among all the indices, TyG index showed the best ability to predict the risk of MACE.

Abstract
Introduction: In this investigation, we aimed to explore the relationship between the triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index and the non-dipping blood pressure (BP) pattern in newly diagnosed hypertensive patients. Methods: In this retrospective study, 216 consecutive newly diagnosed hypertensive patients who had undergone 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure (ABPM) monitoring and had not received anti-hypertensive drugs were included. Non-dipping status was evaluated by a 24-h ABPM monitoring in all patients. We categorized the patients into two groups as; dippers (n=104 cases) and non-dippers (n=112 cases). The TyG index was derived from the fasting triglyceride and fasting glucose levels using the formula; ln[fasting triglyceride (mg/dL) × fasting glucose (mg/dL)/2]. Results: Non-dipper group had a higher TyG index than the dipper group. The TyG was an independent predictor of non-dipping BP in hypertensive individuals, according to multivariable analysis. The TyG index was negatively associated with a decrease in both systolic and diastolic BP during the nighttime. The ideal cutoff value of the TyG index in detecting non-dipping status was≥9.01 with 74.1% sensitivity and 71.2% specificity. A ROC comparison indicated that the area under the curve value of TyG index was superior to fasting triglyceride, fasting glucose, and homeostasis model assessment of IR (HOMA-IR) in detecting non-dipping BP. Conclusion: The TyG index was an independent predictor of non-dipping status in newly diagnosed hypertensive patients who had undergone 24-hour ABPM monitoring and had not received anti-hypertensive drugs. As a simple and easily obtained parameter, the TyG index can be used to detect such pattern among these patients.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Few studies examined the relationship between triglyceride/glucose index (TyG index) and atherosclerosis in Japanese adults. Therefore, this study evaluated their relationship, as measured based on the brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity (baPWV) in Japanese adults. METHODS A total of 912 participants was selected from the NAGALA (NAFLD in Gifu Area, Longitudinal Analysis) study conducted from 2004 to 2012. The relationship between the TyG index and baPWV was estimated through a logistic model. Subgroup analyses by sex, age, body mass index (BMI), total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR), and fatty liver was performed. The formula for TyG index was ln (½fasting triglyceride level [mg/dL] × fasting plasma glucose level [mg/dL]). RESULTS A linear relationship between TyG and baPWV was discovered after adjusting for underlying confounders. An increased risk of baPWV was observed after adjusting for sex, age, BMI, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, fatty liver, eGFR, and TyG as a continuous variable (adjusted odds ratio [adj OR], 1.57; 95% confidence interval [95% CI], 1.14-2.18). Compared with the TyG index in the first tertile, the probabilities of subjects in the third tertile that developed to baPWV were 1.78-fold higher (adj OR 1.78, 95% CI 1.08-2.95: P for trend 0.024). Moreover, stable associations were observed between the TyG index and baPWV in different variables through subgroup analyses. CONCLUSIONS The highest tertile (above 8.57) of the TyG index was positively and linearly related to subclinical atherosclerosis in Japanese adults and may be valuable as a predicted marker.

Abstract
The triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index has been identified as a reliable alternative biomarker of insulin resistance (IR). Recently, a considerable number of studies have provided robust statistical evidence suggesting that the TyG index is associated with the development and prognosis of cardiovascular disease (CVD). Nevertheless, the application of the TyG index as a marker of CVD has not systemically been evaluated, and even less information exists regarding the underlying mechanisms associated with CVD. To this end, in this review, we summarize the history of the use of the TyG index as a surrogate marker for IR. We aimed to highlight the application value of the TyG index for a variety of CVD types and to explore the potential limitations of using this index as a predictor for cardiovascular events to improve its application value for CVD and provide more extensive and precise supporting evidence.

Abstract
BackgroundCarotid plaque plays an important role in the development of stroke. The triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index is a reliable alternative marker of insulin resistance. However, there are limited data regarding the relationship between TyG index and carotid plaque and its stability in nondiabetic adults.MethodsThis study was carried out on 24,895 urban workers (10,978 men and 13,917 women) aged 20 years or older who participated in a comprehensive health screening between January 2016 and December 2017 at the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University, China. Carotid plaque was assessed using ultrasonography. TyG index was calculated as ln [fasting triglyceride (mg/dL) × fasting glucose (mg/dL) /2]. Logistic regression models and restricted cubic spline (RCS) models were used to estimate the association of the TyG index with carotid plaque and its stability by odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs).ResultsCarotid plaque was detected in 5,668 (22.8%) respondents, with stable and unstable plaque accounting for 2,511 (10.1%) and 3,158 (12.7%), respectively. There was a significant positive association between the prevalence of carotid plaque and TyG index quartile levels, and the same associations were observed for the prevalence of stable and unstable carotid plaque (P for trend <0.0001). The multivariable-adjusted ORs (95% CIs) for the highest vs. lowest quartile of TyG index were 1.30 (1.15–1.47) for carotid plaque, 1.38 (1.17–1.63) for stable carotid plaque, and 1.24 (1.07–1.43) for unstable carotid plaque. The RCS analysis showed a linear association between TyG index and carotid plaque, and linear associations were also observed between TyG index and both stable carotid plaque and unstable carotid plaque (P for linearity<0.05).ConclusionOur findings suggested that the TyG index was significantly associated with carotid plaque and might be a useful indicator for the early identification of carotid plaque in nondiabetic subjects.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Data on the relationship between the triglyceride glucose (TyG) index and prognosis after off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting (OPCABG) are limited. This retrospective observational cohort study evaluated the association of the TyG index with prognosis in patients with diabetes mellitus who underwent OPCABG. METHODS The TyG index was calculated using the following equation: TyG index = ln (fasting triglyceride level [mg/dL] × fasting glucose level [mg/dL]/2). The primary outcomes included the occurrence of major adverse cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events (MACCEs), which were defined as all-cause death, nonfatal myocardial infarction, nonfatal stroke and symptomatic graft failure. The association between the TyG index and MACCEs was assessed by Cox proportional hazards regression analysis. RESULTS A total of 1578 patients with diabetes who underwent OPCABG (mean age, 62.9 ± 8.0 years; men, 72.7%) were enrolled in this study. Over the follow-up of 2 years, 176 patients (11.2%) had at least 1 primary endpoint event. The follow-up incidence of the primary endpoint rose with increasing TyG index tertiles. The multivariate Cox proportional hazards regression analysis adjusted for multiple confounders revealed a hazard ratio for the primary endpoint of 2.133 (95% CI 1.347-3.377; P for trend = 0.001) when the highest and lowest TyG index tertiles were compared. CONCLUSION The TyG index was significantly and positively associated with MACCEs, suggesting that the TyG index may be a valuable predictor of adverse cardiovascular and cerebrovascular outcomes after OPCABG in patients with T2DM.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Cervical arterial atherosclerosis (CAA) is an important risk factor of stroke in China. The triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index is a simple and low-cost marker for ischemic stroke. Whether the TyG index predicts cervical arterial atherosclerosis remains uncertain. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between the TyG index and cervical arterial atherosclerosis. METHODS This cross-sectional study was conducted in residents aged ≥40 years in the general population of southeast China. All participants completed a detailed questionnaire and provided blood samples. The high-stroke-risk groups further completed cervical artery ultrasonography. The TyG index was calculated using a well-established formula and analyzed in quartiles (Q1-Q4). Multivariate logistic regression was used to investigate the relationship between the TyG index and cervical arterial atherosclerosis. RESULTS A total of 4,499 participants aged ≥40 years were finally included, with 23.47% comprising the high-stroke-risk population. The prevalence rates of increased intima-media thickness (IMT), carotid plaque, and cervical artery stenosis (CAS) in the high-stroke-risk population were 21.97%, 39.3%, and 6.1%, respectively. Subjects with higher TyG were still more likely to have carotid plaque. After adjusting for several established risk factors, compared with the TyG-Q1 group, the TyG-Q2, TyG-Q3, and TyG-Q4 groups were more likely to have carotid plaque (OR = 1.85, 95%CI = 1.28-2.67; OR = 1.51, 95%CI = 1.05-2.18; and OR = 1.29, 95%CI = 0.90-1.84). TyG was an independent predictor of the presence of plaque in the carotid artery of the high-stroke-risk population. CONCLUSIONS An elevated TyG index is a potential predictor of carotid plaques in the high-stroke-risk population older than 40 years.

Abstract
This study aimed to explore the association between the triglyceride glucose (TyG) index and coronary artery disease (CAD) in postmenopausal women. This study enrolled 869 postmenopausal women and classified them into two groups: CAD group (n = 538) and control group (n = 331). The TyG index was significantly higher in patients with CAD than in controls (P < 0.05).Receiver operator characteristic curves showed that the TyG index was more discriminative for CAD than for control group, and after adjusting for the traditional clinical prognostic factors, including age (>60 years), diabetes, ischemic stroke, systolic blood pressure (≥140), and ejection fraction (<50%), we found that the TyG index could be an independent risk factor for CAD (P < 0.05). The risk of increased TyG index was greater in the <50 years subgroup than in the >50 years subgroup (P < 0.05). The TyG index may be a valuable clinical predictor of CAD risk in postmenopausal women.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Insulin resistance is associated with atrial remodeling as well as atrial fibrillation (AF). However, there was limited evidence on the relationship of triglyceride-glucose index (TyG) index, a simple, valuable marker of insulin resistance, with AF. Thus, we aimed to investigate the association between TyG index and AF among hospitalized patients. METHODS A retrospective observational study was conducted in Daping Hospital, which included 356 hospitalized patients from the Department of Cardiology. Clinical and biochemical parameters were collected from electronic medical records and AF was diagnosed from electrocardiogram (ECG) findings. RESULTS We found that the TyG index was significantly higher in the AF group than in the group without AF. Multivariate logistic regression revealed that hypertension (OR = 1.756, 95%CI 1.135-2.717, P = 0.011) and TyG index (OR = 2.092, 95%CI 1.412-3.100, P<0.001) were positively associated with AF. The analysis of the area under the ROC curve was performed and revealed that area under curve (AUC) of TyG index was 0.600 (95%CI, 0.542-0.659, P = 0.001), the optimal critical value was 8.35, the sensitivity was 65.4%, and the specificity was 52.0%. Additional subgroup analyses of diabetic and non-diabetic subjects were also performed and found the TyG index was increased in non-diabetic subjects with AF. Furthermore, a logistic regression analysis showed TyG index was associated with AF (OR = 3.065, 95% CI, 1.819-5.166, P<0.001) in non-diabetic subjects. However, TyG index was not associated with AF in diabetic subjects. CONCLUSION Elevated TyG index is an independent risk factor for AF among non-diabetic hospitalized patients.
