nowadays the number of long-surviving cancer patients is constantly increasing, and often medical oncologists face oligometastatic disease.
Single pulmonary metastasis from colorectal cancer is a not frequent situation in which diagnostic pitfalls should be considered. Surgery more than radiotherapy or ablative procedures might have a theoretical curative role with rewarding long-term results. The authors undeline that the best long-term results might be expected by combination of loco-regional with chemotherapy and systemic treatment. It seems necessary to address all aspects of the disease, the physical condition of the patients and the presence of other metastatic sites before opting for a therapeutic treatment because many factors seem to modify prognosis in this subset of patients and should be considered when planning a personalized care option.
