Abstract
Background Akkermansia muciniphila (A. muciniphila) is an emerging probiotic with potential impact on human health, and there is a growing interest in this area, but an overall analysis of research trends is lacking. This study conducted a detailed bibliometric analysis and visualization of A. muciniphila research to examine the current research status, hotspots, and trends, aiming to inform future research directions. Methods This study utilized the Web of Science database to search research on A. muciniphila from 2010 to 2024. Bibliometric analysis was conducted using CiteSpace and VOSviewer software to generate yearly publication trends, contributions by countries, institutions, and distinguished researchers, as well as key themes and influential researches. This analysis aimed to visualize and explore the literature over the past 15 years, guiding future researches and identifying gaps in the field of intestinal flora in A. muciniphila. Results We searched a total of 4,423 related publications. Wei Chen, Willem de Vos and Patrice D. Cani are the primary contributors to A. muciniphila 's research. The top contributing countries and institutions are China, the United States, South Korea, Spain, and Italy, with research centers such as the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Zhejiang University, the University of Copenhagen, and the University of Helsinki being the main contributors. Current research hotspots focus on the molecular biology of A. muciniphila, such as its role in intestinal barrier maintenance, immune response, and its potential for regulating and treating digestive and metabolic diseases, such as cancer, fatty liver disease, inflammatory bowel disease, etc., through bile acid metabolism, extracellular vesicles, and insulin resistance. Conclusion Our study synthesizes current research on A. muciniphila in various disease areas and suggests enhancing collaboration among countries, institutions, and authors to advance A. muciniphila-related clinical and basic research, explore its efficacy in a variety of diseases and the effects of commonly used clinical medications on A. muciniphila, to fill the research gaps in the current field, and to provide valid evidence for the development of A. muciniphila as a novel probiotic supplement.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The prevalence of addiction makes it a significant public health issue. Recently, transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) has garnered significant attention as a promising treatment for addiction.
AIM To analyze development trends and research hotspots in TMS-based addiction treatment using a bibliometric approach.
METHODS Articles on TMS-based addiction treatment from 2001 to 2023 were sourced from the Science Citation Index Expanded in the Web of Science Core Collection. CiteSpace software, VOSviewer, the "bibliometrix" R software package, and the bibliometric online analysis platform were used to analyze the current publication trends and hotspots.
RESULTS Total 190 articles on TMS-based addiction treatment were identified, with clinical studies being the most prevalent. The United States led in both publication volume and international collaborations. Medical University of South Carolina and Zangen A were the most productive institution and author, respectively. Neurobiology, alcohol use disorder, and repetitive TMS were the most recent research hotspots.
CONCLUSION Future research should focus on the neurobiological mechanisms underlying TMS-based addiction treatment. This study offers comprehensive insights and recommendations for advancing research on TMS-based addiction treatment.

Abstract
Objective The aim of this study is to conduct bibliometric analysis and visualization of the research progress of lipid droplets in the central nervous system in detail using CiteSpace, VOSviewer, and to explore the current research status, hotspots, and research trends, with a view to providing a basis for future research. Methods This study utilized the Web of Science database to search for 1,066 relevant publications on lipid droplets in the central nervous system from 2000 to 2024. Bibliometric analysis was conducted using CiteSpace and VOSviewer software, producing metrics such as annual publication trends, contributions by countries, institutions, and authors, keyword co-occurrences, and reference co-citation networks. The literature of 25 years or so was explored visually to identify the important areas of lipid droplets in neurological research. Results Miguel Lopez is the largest contributor to the relevant literature with 10 publications. The United States, China, Johns Hopkins University, the University of Cambridge, and Zhejiang University are the top contributors in terms of publication volume in this research area. Current research emphasizes the mechanisms of lipid droplets in oxidative stress, neuroinflammation, and related degenerative diseases, with a particular focus on Alzheimer's Disease. Conclusion Our analysis suggests enhancing collaboration among countries, institutions, and authors in clinical and basic research on brain lipid droplets.

Abstract
Steatotic liver disease (SLD) is a common chronic liver disease without effective therapeutic options. Some studies suggest potential health benefits of dietary live microbes. This study aims to investigate the association between dietary live microbes intake and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) / metabolic alcohol-related liver disease (MetALD) / alcoholic liver disease (ALD) in adults. Data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 1999-2018 were analyzed. MASLD was defined according to the latest Delphi Consensus standard. Participants were grouped based on estimated dietary live microbe intake: low (< 104 CFU/g), moderate (104-107 CFU/g), and high (> 107 CFU/g). Multivariable logistic regression analysis was employed to assess the impact of dietary live microbes on MASLD/MetALD/ALD, along with further investigations into non-dietary probiotic/prebiotic relationships. Participants had a weighted mean age of 47.05 years (SE, 0.24) and 50.59% were female. MASLD proportions differ among low (21.76%), moderate (22.24%), and high (18.96%) microbe groups. Similarly, for MetALD, proportions are 7.75%, 6.95%, and 6.44%, and for ALD, 5.42%, 3.59%, and 2.97% in respective groups. The high dietary live microbe intake group was associated with a 16% lower risk of MASLD compared to those in the low intake group (trend test, P = 0.02), while the risk of ALD was reduced by 25% in the moderate intake group. A lack of association was identified between non-dietary prebiotic/probiotic and MASLD/MetALD/ALD. Our study suggests that a relatively high intake of live microbes diets in adults is associated with a lower risk of SLD.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Recent research indicates that the intestinal microbial community, known as the gut microbiota, may play a crucial role in the pathogenesis of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). To understand this relationship, this study used a comprehensive bibliometric analysis to explore and analyze the currently little-known connection between gut microbiota and NAFLD, as well as new findings and possible future pathways in this field. AIM To provide an in-depth analysis of the current focus issues and research developments on the interaction between gut microbiota and NAFLD. METHODS In this study, all data were collected from the Web of Science Core Collection, and the related searches were completed on one day (February 21, 2024). The data were stored in plain text format to facilitate subsequent analysis. VOSviewer 1.6.20 and CiteSpace 6.1R6 Basic were used for knowledge graph construction and bibliometric analysis. RESULTS The study included a total of 1256 articles published from 2013 to 2023, and the number of published papers demonstrated an upward trend, reaching a peak in the last two years. The University of California, San Diego held the highest citation count, while Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in China led in the number of published works. The journal "Nutrients" had the highest publication count, while "Hepatology" was the most frequently cited. South Korean author Suk Ki Tae was the most prolific researcher. The co-cited keyword cluster labels revealed ten major clusters, namely cortisol, endothelial dysfunction, carbohydrate metabolism, myocardial infarction, non-alcoholic steatohepatitis, lipotoxicity, glucagon-like peptide-1, non-islet dependent, ethnicity, and microRNA. Keyword outbreak analysis highlighted metabolic syndrome, hepatic steatosis, insulin resistance, hepatocellular carcinoma, cardiovascular disease, intestinal permeability, and intestinal bacterial overgrowth as prominent areas of intense research. CONCLUSION Through the quantitative analysis of relevant literature, the current research focus and direction of gut microbiota and NAFLD can be more clearly understood, which helps us better understand the pathogenesis of NAFLD, and also opens up innovative solutions and strategies for the treatment of NAFLD.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The international consensus to revise non-alcoholic fatty liver disease to metabolic (dysfunction)-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) in 2020 attracted significant attention. The impact of the MAFLD definition on the research community has not been objectively assessed. We conducted an analysis of systematically collected literature on MAFLD to understand its research impact. METHODS From PubMed, Web of Science, and Scopus, the literature adopting MAFLD, written in English, and published from 2020 to 10 October 2023 was collected. The publication metrics, including publication counts, publishing journals, author countries, author keywords, and citation information, were analyzed to evaluate the research impact and key topics on MAFLD. RESULTS 1469 MAFLD-related papers were published in 434 journals with a steady increase in the number. The intense publishing and citations activity on MAFLD indicates the large impact of the redefinition. Topic assessment with keyword and citation analysis revealed a transition from the proposal and discussion of the redefinition to clinical characterization of MAFLD with a focus on metabolic dysfunction. Moreover, the diagnostic criteria for MAFLD showed better performance in predicting hepatic and extrahepatic outcomes compared to NAFLD. The publications were from 99 countries with evidence of strong regional and global collaboration. Multiple international societies and stakeholders have endorsed MAFLD for its utility in clinical practice, improving patient management and promoting multidisciplinary care, while alleviating stigma. CONCLUSION This survey provides a quantitative measure of the considerable international impact and contributions of the MAFLD definition towards liver research and as part of the spectrum of cardiometabolic disorders.

Abstract
The term metabolic-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD), with a global prevalence estimated at 38.77%, has gradually replaced the traditional concept of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Compared to the general population, the incidence of MAFLD is notably higher among pregnant women, posing potential risks to both maternal and neonatal health. This review summarizes the latest research on MAFLD, focusing on its association with pregnancy complications. Additionally, it provides a comparative analysis with previous studies on NAFLD, presenting a comprehensive perspective for clinical management. Findings suggest that pregnant women with MAFLD face a higher risk of gestational hypertension and cesarean delivery compared to those with NAFLD, while the risk for gestational diabetes mellitus remains similar between the two conditions. Additionally, MAFLD is associated with an increased likelihood of delivering large-for-gestational-age infants and heightened risks of preterm birth and low birth weight. Current treatment strategies for MAFLD focus on lifestyle modifications, such as dietary adjustments and increased physical activity. However, there is an urgent need for the development of safe and effective pharmacological treatments, particularly tailored toward pregnant women. Future research should delve deeper into the causal relationships between MAFLD and pregnancy complications and explore optimal therapeutic approaches to improve outcomes for mothers and their infants.

Abstract
The increasing scientific interest in antioxidants and naturally derived compounds as potential remedies for obesity and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) has led to extensive research. The objective of this bibliometric analysis is to present an updated perspective on the topic of antioxidants, herbs, phytochemicals, and natural compounds, in the control of obesity and NAFLD, to identify new areas for future research. Publications from the years 2012-2022 were retrieved using the Scopus database. The research trends were analyzed using the Biblioshiny and VOSviewer tools. The field has seen a significant increase in research activity, as indicated by an annual growth rate of 10 % in the number of published manuscripts. China, Korea, and the USA emerged as the most prominent contributors in this specific field, supported by their notable volumes of publications and citations. The density analysis revealed that the most frequently occurring authors' keywords related to herbal species are, in rank order, Camelia sinensis, Momordica charantia, Curcuma longa, Ilex paraguariensis, Panax ginseng, Moringa oleifera, Garcinia cambogia, Garcinia mangostana, Zingiber officinale, and Cinnamomum verum. In the group of antioxidants, phytochemicals, and natural compounds, the top 10 were resveratrol, curcumin, quercetin, vitamin E, alpha-lipoic acid, vitamin C, chlorogenic acid, lycopene, fucoxanthin, and berberine. The co-occurrence analysis unveiled significant themes and potential trends, including a notable interest in the impact of herbal species, antioxidants, phytochemicals, and natural compounds on obesity and NAFLD through the modulation of the gut microbiome. Another recurring theme that arises, is the ongoing investigation of molecular targets that demonstrate anti-adipogenesis properties. The analysis presented in this study provides valuable insights for researchers investigating the efficacy of antioxidants, herbs, phytochemicals, and natural compounds in addressing obesity and NAFLD. Through the use of bibliometric methods, the study offers a comprehensive overview. Furthermore, the findings of this analysis can serve as a foundation for future research in this specific domain.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is increasingly recognized as a significant health issue. Emerging research has focused on the role of the gut microbiota in NAFLD, emphasizing the gut-liver axis. This study aimed to identify key research trends and guide future investigations in this evolving area. METHODS This bibliometric study utilized Scopus to analyze global research on the link between the gut microbiota and NAFLD. The method involved a search strategy focusing on relevant keywords in article titles, refined by including only peer-reviewed journal articles. The data analysis included bibliometric indicators such as publication counts and trends, which were visualized using VOSviewer software version 1.6.20 for network and co-occurrence analysis, highlighting key research clusters and emerging topics. RESULTS Among the 479 publications on the gut microbiota and NAFLD, the majority were original articles (n = 338; 70.56%), followed by reviews (n = 119; 24.84%). The annual publication count increased from 1 in 2010 to 118 in 2022, with a significant growth phase starting in 2017 (R2 = 0.9025, p < 0.001). The research was globally distributed and dominated by China (n = 231; 48.23%) and the United States (n = 90; 18.79%). The University of California, San Diego, led institutional contributions (n = 18; 3.76%). Funding was prominent, with 62.8% of the articles supported, especially by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (n = 118; 24.63%). The average citation count was 43.23, with an h-index of 70 and a citation range of 0 to 1058 per article. Research hotspots shifted their focus post-2020 toward the impact of high-fat diets on NAFLD incidence. CONCLUSIONS This study has effectively mapped the growing body of research on the gut microbiota-NAFLD relationship, revealing a significant increase in publications since 2017. There is significant interest in gut microbiota and NAFLD research, mainly led by China and the United States, with diverse areas of focus. Recently, the field has moved toward exploring the interconnections among diet, lifestyle, and the gut-liver axis. We hypothesize that with advanced technologies, new opportunities for personalized medicine and a holistic understanding of NAFLD will emerge.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a liver condition that is prevalent worldwide and associated with significant health risks and economic burdens. As it has been linked to insulin resistance (IR), this study aimed to perform a bibliometric analysis and visually represent the scientific literature on IR and NAFLD. AIM To map the research landscape to underscore critical areas of focus, influential studies, and future directions of NAFLD and IR. METHODS This study conducted a bibliometric analysis of the literature on IR and NAFLD indexed in the SciVerse Scopus database from 1999 to 2022. The search strategy used terms from the literature and medical subject headings, focusing on terms related to IR and NAFLD. VOSviewer software was used to visualize research trends, collaborations, and key thematic areas. The analysis examined publication type, annual research output, contributing countries and institutions, funding agencies, journal impact factors, citation patterns, and highly cited references. RESULTS This analysis identified 23124 documents on NAFLD, revealing a significant increase in the number of publications between 1999 and 2022. The search retrieved 715 papers on IR and NAFLD, including 573 (80.14%) articles and 88 (12.31%) reviews. The most productive countries were China (n = 134; 18.74%), the United States (n = 122; 17.06%), Italy (n = 97; 13.57%), and Japan (n = 41; 5.73%). The leading institutions included the Università degli Studi di Torino, Italy (n = 29; 4.06%), and the Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche, Italy (n = 19; 2.66%). The top funding agencies were the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases in the United States (n = 48; 6.71%), and the National Natural Science Foundation of China (n = 37; 5.17%). The most active journals in this field were Hepatology (27 publications), the Journal of Hepatology (17 publications), and the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism (13 publications). The main research hotspots were "therapeutic approaches for IR and NAFLD" and "inflammatory and high-fat diet impacts on NAFLD". CONCLUSION This is the first bibliometric analysis to examine the relationship between IR and NAFLD. In response to the escalating global health challenge of NAFLD, this research highlights an urgent need for a better understanding of this condition and for the development of intervention strategies. Policymakers need to prioritize and address the increasing prevalence of NAFLD.

Abstract
Background Cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) encompasses a range of cervical lesions that are closely linked to cervical invasive carcinoma. Early detection and timely treatment of CIN are crucial for preventing the progression of the disease. However, no bibliometric analysis has been conducted in this area. This research aimed to employ bibliometric analysis to summarize the current research hotspots and estimate future research trends in the CIN field. Methods Publications related to CIN (2013-2023) were retrieved from the Science-Citation-Index-Expanded-of-Web-of-Science-Core-Collection. CiteSpace, VOSviewer, and the bibliometric-Online-Analysis-Platform-of-Literature-Metrology were employed to analyze the yearly research output, collaborating institutions or countries, leading researchers, principal journals, co-referenced sources, and emerging keywords. Results In total, 4677 articles on CIN that were published from 2013 to 2023 and met our criteria were extracted. Major publishing platforms were predominantly USA until 2017 when China emerged as the leading source of publications about CIN. The USA was the leading nation in international collaborations. The National-Cancer-Institute (NCI) was the institution with the most publications. Schiffman Mark produced the highest number of articles, with a total of 92. Ten major clusters were identified through co-cited keyword clustering, including prevalence, human papillomavirus, DNA methylation, p16, methylation, conization, HPV genotyping tests (VALGENT), deep learning, vaginal microbiome, and immunohistochemistry. Keyword burst analysis showed that photodynamic therapy and deep learning emerged as prominent research focal points with significant impact in resent three years. Conclusion Global publications on CIN research showed a relatively stable trend over the past eleven years. Current research hotspots are deep learning and photodynamic therapy. This research offered organized data and insightful guidance for future studies, which may help better prevent, screen, and treat CIN.

Abstract
Purpose Cough variant asthma (CVA) is a chronic inflammatory disease characterized by recurrent coughing, a prevalent cause of chronic cough in children and adults. As a unique form of asthma, researchers have recently become increasingly interested in developing effective diagnostic and treatment methods. Currently, there has been no bibliometric analysis in CVA. Therefore, this study aims to enrich this knowledge network by examining the current development status, research focal points, and emerging trends in this field. Methods Articles and reviews on CVA published between 1993 and 2022 were collected from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) database. Relevant data from the reports were extracted, and collaborative network analysis was performed using CiteSpace and VOSviewer software. Results 772 articles were included in this study, indicating a significant increase since 2019. The countries with the highest output are China, Japan. The Journal of Asthma and Pulmonary Pharmacology Therapeutics emerged as the most prolific journals in this field. Keyword analysis revealed 22 clusters, highlighting airway inflammation, airway hyperresponsiveness, and eosinophil as the main focus and frontier of research on CVA. Conclusion From the visual analysis results, the research of CVA is still in the development stage, and there is no unified definition of pathogenesis, diagnostic criteria and treatment strategies. Therefore, researchers and teams should actively carry out cross-institutional and cross-regional cooperation, expand cooperation areas, and carry out high-quality clinical research in the future.

Abstract
BACKGROUND According to national guidelines, a diet low in fermentable oligosaccharides, disaccharides, monosaccharides, and polyols (FODMAP) is a second-line therapy option for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and improves functional intestinal symptoms. Numerous noteworthy results have been published in this field over the past fifteen years. This study aims to analyze the global research trend and hotspot of the low FODMAP diet research, and provide a comprehensive perspective and direction for researchers. METHODS The Science Citation Index-Expanded of the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) was used to identify low FODMAP diet-related articles and reviews. Three bibliometric programs (CiteSpace, VOSviewer, Scimago Graphic) were utilized to analyze and visualize the annual publications, authors, countries, institutions, journals, citations, and keywords. RESULTS In total, 843 documents related to the low FODMAP diet research were published in 227 journals by 3,343 authors in 1,233 institutions from 59 countries. The United States, which was the most engaged nation in international collaboration, had the largest annual production and the fastest growth. The most productive organization was Monash University, and the most fruitful researcher was Gibson PR. Nutrients ranked first in terms of the number of published documents. The article "A diet low in FODMAPs reduces symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome" (Halmos EP, 2014) received the most co-citations. Keywords that appear frequently in the literature mainly involve two main aspects: the clinical efficacy evaluation and mechanism exploration of the low FODMAP diet. The term "gut microbiota" stands out as the most prominent keyword among the burst keywords that have remained prevalent till date. CONCLUSION The restriction stage of the low FODMAP diet is superior to other dietary therapies for IBS in terms of symptom response, but it has a negative impact on the abundance of gut Bifidobacteria and diet quality. Identification of biomarkers to predict response to the low FODMAP diet is of great interest and has become the current research hotspot.

Abstract
AIMS Itch, a common uncomfortable sensory experience, occurs frequently in inflammatory or allergic disorders. In recent years, with the discovery of itch-specific pathways in the peripheral and central nervous system, the association between immunology and neural pathways has gradually emerged as the main mechanism of itch. Although many studies have been conducted on itch, no bibliometric analysis study focusing on this topic has been conducted. This study aimed to explore the research hotspots and trends in the itch field from a bibliometric perspective. METHODS Publications relevant to itch, published from 2003 to 2022, were retrieved from the Science Citation Index-Expanded of Web of Science Core Collection. Publications were critically reviewed and analyzed with CiteSpace software, Vosviewer, and the bibliometric online analysis platform. Visual maps were conducted in terms of annual production, collaborating countries or institutions, productive authors, core journals, co-cited references, and keyword bursts. RESULTS 2395 articles on itch that met our criteria were identified and the quantity of publications has been increasing rapidly since 2012. The USA was the most influential country. University Hospital Münster was the institution with the most publications. Gil Yosipovitch was the most prolific author. Atopic dermatitis (AD), intradermal serotonin, chronic pruritus, mechanical itch, gastrin-releasing peptide, substance p, interleukin-31 receptor, histamine-induced itch, bile acid, scratching behavior, and h-4 receptor were the top 11 clusters in co-citation cluster analysis. Keyword burst analysis suggested that treatment, inflammation, and AD are current research hotspots. CONCLUSION Global publications on itch research have increased steadily and rapidly over the past 20 years. Inflammation and AD are current research hotspots. The neuroimmunological and neuroinflammatory mechanisms of itch, as well as clinical assessment methods and therapeutic targets, will be novel research directions in the future. This study provides guidance for further itch research.

Abstract
Metabolic-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) includes several metabolic dysfunctions caused by dysregulation in the brain-gut-liver axis and, consequently, increases cardiovascular risks and fatty liver dysfunction. In MAFLD, type 2 diabetes mellitus, obesity, and metabolic syndrome are frequently present; these conditions are related to liver lipogenesis and systemic inflammation. This study aimed to review the connection between the brain-gut-liver axis and MAFLD. The inflammatory process, cellular alterations in hepatocytes and stellate cells, hypercaloric diet, and sedentarism aggravate the prognosis of patients with MAFLD. Thus, to understand the modulation of the physiopathology of MAFLD, it is necessary to include the organokines involved in this process (adipokines, myokines, osteokines, and hepatokines) and their clinical relevance to project future perspectives of this condition and bring to light new possibilities in therapeutic approaches. Adipokines are responsible for the activation of distinct cellular signaling in different tissues, such as insulin and pro-inflammatory cytokines, which is important for balancing substances to avoid MAFLD and its progression. Myokines improve the quantity and quality of adipose tissues, contributing to avoiding the development of MAFLD. Finally, hepatokines are decisive in improving or not improving the progression of this disease through the regulation of pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory organokines.

Abstract
As the world's largest carbon sink, the oceans are essential to achieving the 1.5 °C target. Marine ecosystems play a crucial role in the "sink enhancement" process. A deeper comprehension of research trends, hotspots, and the boundaries of ocean carbon sinks is necessary for a more effective response to climate change. To this end, academic literature in the field of ocean carbon sinks was investigated and analyzed using the core database of the Web of Science. The results show that (1) The ocean carbon sink is a global study. The number of literatures in the field of ocean carbon sinks is growing, and the USA and China are the main leaders, with the USA accounting for 31.19% of the global publications and China accounting for 26.57% of the global publications, and the environmental science discipline is the most popular in this field. (2) Keyword burst detection shows that the keywords "sink, sensitivity, land, dynamics, and seagrass" appear earliest and have high burst intensity, which are the hot spots of research in this field; the keyword clustering shows that the global ocean carbon sinks research mainly focuses on three themes: (i) carbon cycle and climate change; (ii) carbon sinks estimation models and techniques; and (iii) carbon sinks capacity and ocean biological carbon sequestration in different seas. Finally, targeted research recommendations are proposed to further match the ocean carbon sink research.

Abstract
Hepatic ischemia-reperfusion injury (HIRI) is a complex pathological phenomenon dominated by the innate immune system and involves a variety of immune cells. This condition frequently occurs during hepatectomy, liver transplantation or hemorrhagic shock. HIRI represents an important factor in the poor prognosis of patients after liver surgery. However, there is still a lack of effective intervention to reduce the incidence of HIRI. In this study, we aimed to describe the overall structure of scientific research on HIRI over the past 20 years and provide valuable information and guidelines for future researchers. Bibliometric analysis was used to comprehensively review developments in HIRI and changes in our understanding of HIRI over the past two decades. We identified a total of 4267 articles on HIRI that were published over the past 20 years of which basic research was predominant. Collaboration network analysis revealed that China, the University of California Los Angeles, and Ronald W Busuttil were the most influential country, institute, and scholar, respectively. Co-occurrence cluster analysis revealed that ischemic preconditioning, liver cirrhosis, hepatic I/R injury, autophagy, acute liver failure, oxygen, donation after circulatory death, Nlrp3, remote organ, and microdialysis were the top 10 clusters. Keyword burst detection indicated that autophagy, inflammation, and early allograft dysfunction represent the current research hotspots. In summary, this is the first bibliometric analysis of HIRI research. Our timely analysis of these hotpots and research trends may provide a framework for future researchers and further promote research on the key mechanisms and therapeutic measures in this field.

Abstract
Background Human skin microbiome is the first barrier against exogenous attack and is associated with various skin disease pathogenesis and progression. Advancements in high-throughput sequencing technologies have paved the way for a deeper understanding of this field. Based on the bibliometric analysis, this investigation aimed to identify the hotspots and future research trends associated with human skin microbiomes studied over the past decade. Methods The published research on skin microbiome from January 2013 to January 2023 was retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection. Data cleaning processes to ensure robust data and the bibliometrix packages R, CiteSpace, VOSviewer, Origin, and Scimago Graphica for bibliometric and visual analyses were utilized. Results A total of 1629 published documents were analyzed. The overall publication trend steadily increased, with relatively fast growth in 2017 and 2020. The United States of America has the highest number of publications and citations and shows close collaborations with China and Germany. The University of California, San Diego, indicated a higher number of publications than other institutions and the fastest growth rate. The top three most publishing journals on this topic are Microorganisms, Frontiers in Microbiology, and Experimental dermatology. Gallo RL is the most influential author with the highest h- and g-index and most publications in skin microecology, followed by Grice EA and Kong HH. The top 10 most frequently used keywords in recent years included skin microbiome, microbiome, staphylococcus aureus, diversity, atopic dermatitis, skin, bacteria, infections, gut microbiota, and disease. Conclusion The skin microbiome is an area of research that requires continuous analysis, and even with much-achieved progress, future research will further be aided as technology develops.

Abstract
There is growing evidence that gut microbiota dysbiosis is linked to the etiopathogenesis of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), from the initial stage of disease until the progressive stage of nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) and the final stage of cirrhosis. Conversely, probiotics, prebiotics, and synbiotics have shown promise in restoring dysbiosis and lowering clinical indicators of disease in a number of both preclinical and clinical studies. Additionally, postbiotics and parabiotics have recently garnered some attention. The purpose of this bibliometric analysis is to assess recent publishing trends concerning the role of the gut microbiome in the progression of NAFLD, NASH and cirrhosis and its connection with biotics. The free access version of the Dimensions scientific research database was used to find publications in this field from 2002 to 2022. VOSviewer and Dimensions' integrated tools were used to analyze current research trends. Research into the following topics is expected to emerge in this field: (1) evaluation of risk factors which are correlated with the progression of NAFLD, such as obesity and metabolic syndrome; (2) pathogenic mechanisms, such as liver inflammation through toll-like receptors activation, or alteration of short-chain fatty acids metabolisms, which contribute to NAFLD development and its progression in more severe forms, such as cirrhosis; (3) therapy for cirrhosis through dysbiosis reduction, and research on hepatic encephalopathy a common consequence of cirrhosis; (4) evaluation of diversity, and composition of gut microbiome under NAFLD, and as it varies under NASH and cirrhosis by rRNA gene sequencing, a tool which can also be used for the development of new probiotics and explore into the impact of biotics on the gut microbiome; (5) treatments to reduce dysbiosis with new probiotics, such as Akkermansia, or with fecal microbiome transplantation.

Abstract
Activation of LXR activity by synthetic agonists has been the focus of many drug discovery efforts with a focus on treatment of dyslipidemia and atherosclerosis. Many agonists have been developed, but all have been hindered due to their ability to efficaciously stimulate de novo lipogenesis. Here, we review the development of LXR inverse agonists that were originally optimized for their ability to enable recruitment of corepressors leading to silencing of genes that drive de novo lipogenesis. Such compounds have efficacy in animal models of MAFLD, dyslipidemia, and cancer. Several classes of LXR inverse agonists have been identified and one is now in clinical trials for treatment of severe dyslipidemia.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) has become the most common chronic liver disease. MAFLD is a major risk factor for end-stage liver disease including cirrhosis and primary liver cancer. The pathogenesis of MAFLD is complex and has not yet been clarified. To the best of our knowledge, few studies have conducted quantitative bibliometric analysis to evaluate published MAFLD research. In this study, we conducted a comprehensive analysis of MAFLD publications over the past decade to summarize the current research hotspots and predict future research directions in this field. METHODS Articles into MAFLD published from 2012 to 2021 were identified from the Science Citation Index-Expanded of Web of Science Core Collection. CiteSpace software, VOSviewer, the "bibliometrix" R package, and the Online Analysis Platform of Literature Metrology were used to analyze the current publication trends and hotspots. RESULTS We retrieved 13959 English articles about MAFLD published from 2012 to 2021. Primary sites of publication were dominated by the United States until 2014, when China became the source of most published MAFLD-related research papers. The United States was found to be the most engaged country in international cooperative efforts. Shanghai Jiao Tong University was the most productive institution. Loomba R was the most productive author with 123 articles. The co-cited keyword cluster tag showed ten main clusters: #0 liver fibrosis, #1 hemoglobin, #2 metabolic associated fatty liver disease, #3 egcg, #4 myocardial infarction, #5 heart disease, #6 pnpla3, #7 hepatocellular carcinoma, #8 noninvasive marker, and #9 children. Keyword burst analysis showed that gut microbiota was the highest-intensity research hotspot. CONCLUSION In the past decade, the number of publications on MAFLD increased dramatically, especially in the last three years. Gut microbiota became an important research direction for etiological and therapeutic investigations into MAFLD. Insulin resistance was also a key factor in studying the development of MAFLD in recent years. Liver fibrosis was an important focus of disease development. This study provides systematic information, helps guide future research, and helps to identify mechanisms and new treatment methods for MAFLD.
