This is a very interesting study that provides a basis for elucidating the molecular mechanism by which ACE2 regulates HSC autophagy through the AMPK/mTOR pathway to improve liver fibrosis and hepatic sinusoidal remodeling. Results of this study indicated that ACE2 overexpression can inhibit HSC activation and promote cell apoptosis by regulating HSC autophagy through the AMPK/mTOR pathway in vivo; however, in vitro analyses could confirm the consistency of its effectiveness.
