Reader Comments:
Recently nanotheranostics are major target in field of medical and material science as it is single platform for both therapeutic and diagnostic applications. Published study discusses main points reported in previous literature in nanotheranostics use in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). This article is well written which includes explanation of limitations of conventional method of HCC management and led to latest innovation of nanotechnology for its detection and treatment. Although, authors can include detailed explanation of principle of nanomaterials used as theranostics (mentioned in Table 1&2), it can give more insight of nanotheranostics application. Overall, article is beautiful start for more futuristic role of nanotheranostics in cancer.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most common primary liver cancer with high morbidity and mortality worldwide, and chemotherapy and systemic therapy have been recommended to patients with intermediate or advanced stage cancer. However, the conventional routes of administration yields low desired response rates due to fast clearance rate, nonspecific delivery, severe side effects, low drug concentration in cancer cells, etc. Additionally, the patients with HCC are inclined to advanced stage due to their occult. Recently, nanotheranostics can surmount the aforementioned obstacles to enhance the diagnosis to and therapy of HCC. This review summarized the current technological and functional advancements in nanotheranostic technology for HCC. However, rare nanomedicine have been applied in clinic practice, maybe there are some obstacles to limit the clinical translational applications for HCC.
