The discussion of s-palmitoylation is potentially interesting, but the choice of Crohn's disease as a vehicle for publication is flawed. The second sentence of the abstract destroys the relevance of what is interesting speculation: i.e. 1) Crohn's disease (CD) is not an autoimmune disease, but rather an immune mediated disease created by fixation of the immune systems Th1 response to Mycobacterium avium subspecies paratuberculosis Med. Hypothesis 2015. 85:878-881; Gastrointest. Discord 2021, 3:138-141 doi.org/10.3390/gidiscord3030015; 2) CD does not involve the entire gastrointestinal tract. Its initial lesion is highly restricted to the ileocecum. The value of the paper is in the question it attempts to ask, the effect of s-palmitoylation on the integrity of the mucosal membranes of the gastrointestinal tract
