Comment on "Quinone oxidoreductase 1 is overexpressed in gastric cancer and associated with outcome of adjuvant chemotherapy and survival" Lei Cao, Yu-Qin Zhu, Gao-Xiong Wang, Hong-Wei Cheng Corresponding Author: Hong-Wei Cheng, MD, School of Public Health, Xiamen University, Xiangan South Road, Xiangan District, Xiamen 361002, Fujian Province, China. hongwei1026@hotmail.com, hongwei1026c@163.com. Tan XW reported NQO1 is overexpressed in GC, and the overexpression of NQO1 indicates a poor OS performance and better response to 5-FU chemotherapy, the authors present that NQO1 might be a prognostic biomarker and therapeutic target for GC administration. However, some concerns need further explore. 1. The authors claimed that NQO1 is highly expressed in GC tissues, but the results did not show the expression of NQO1 in adjacent normal tissues. 2. The OS analysis showed overexpression of NQO1 predicted the poor survival rate, but the favorable result was also showed in those GC patients with surgery only. Therefore, we believe that if the number of patients is increased, further analysis will be more scientific. Based on the above comments, and we want to submit a paper (Letter to Editor) to WJG, and some supplmentary results would be included, we believe it could enhance the scientific importance of the published paper.
