Abstract
The relationship between immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) and Helicobacterpylori infection has largely been an unexplored entity. This review article aims at focusing on the role of H. pylori in secondary ITP. We also elucidated the importance of diagnostic workup and treatment of H. pylori in this article. The mechanisms of H. pylori-associated ITP have been covered in this article. The factors determining platelet response to H. pylori eradication therapy have been mentioned. It is extremely crucial to be aware that H. pylori is a major causative pathogen for new-onset ITP as well as chronic ITP. Upper gastrointestinal endoscopic biopsy is the best invasive method for the diagnosis of the same. Further studies need to be conducted across larger, more diverse groups to validate our observation that eradication of H. pylori could aid platelet recovery in ITP.

Abstract
BACKGROUND/AIMS Little is known about the effect of Helicobacter pylori eradication on the recurrence of gastric hyperplastic polyps after endoscopic resection. Thus, we evaluated the recurrence rate of gastric hyperplastic polyps based on H. pylori eradication following endoscopic resection. METHODS We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of 201 patients with H. pylori infection who underwent endoscopic resection for gastric hyperplastic polyps at six medical centers. H. pylori status was assessed by histological analysis and a rapid urease test. A total of 149 patients underwent successful H. pylori eradication (eradication group), whereas 52 patients had persistent H. pylori infections (non-eradication group). The recurrence rate of gastric hyperplastic polyps and the risk factors according to H. pylori status were analyzed. RESULTS During the mean follow-up period of 18.3 months, recurrent gastric polyps developed after endoscopic resection in 10 patients (19.2% [10/52]) in the non-eradication group and 12 patients (8.1% [12/149]) in the eradication group. The cumulative incidence of recurrent gastric hyperplastic polyps was significantly higher in the non-eradication group than in the eradication group (p = 0.041, log-rank test). In the adjusted analysis, H. pylori eradication reduced the recurrence of gastric hyperplastic polyps (hazard ratio [HR], 0.42; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.18 to 0.99), whereas anticoagulation therapy increased the risk of recurrence of gastric hyperplastic polyps (HR, 4.91; 95% CI, 1.39 to 17.28). CONCLUSION Successful eradication of H. pylori may reduce the recurrence of gastric hyperplastic polyps in patients after endoscopic mucosal resection.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Increasing clarithromycin resistance has led to changes in several guidelines for treatment of Helicobacter pylori infections. We compared the H. pylori eradication rates of the empirical concomitant therapy (CoT) and a tailored therapy (TaT) using dual-priming oligonucleotide-based polymerase chain reaction to detect mutations in the 23S rRNA gene that are related to clarithromycin resistance. METHODS Between June 2020 and May 2021, 290 patients were enrolled and randomly assigned to 2 groups. In the CoT group, the patients received rabeprazole 20 mg, amoxicillin 1 g, clarithromycin 500 mg, and metronidazole 500 mg twice daily for 14 days. In the TaT group, point mutation-negative patients received rabeprazole 20 mg, amoxicillin 1 g, and clarithromycin 500 mg twice daily for 14 days and point mutation-positive patients received rabeprazole 20 mg twice daily, metronidazole 500 mg thrice daily, and bismuth 120 mg and tetracycline 500 mg 4 times daily for 14 days. RESULTS A total of 290 and 261 patients were included in the intention-to-treat (ITT) and per-protocol (PP) analyses, respectively. A2142G and/or A2143G point mutations were identified in 28.6% of the patients. No significant difference in eradication rates were observed between the 2 groups as per ITT (CoT, 82.8% and TaT, 85.5%, P = .520) and PP (CoT, 88.6% and TaT, 94.6%, P = .084) analyses. In point mutation-positive patients, the eradication rates in the CoT group were lower than those in the TaT group as per ITT (69.8% and 87.5%, respectively, P = .050) and PP (76.9% and 97.1%, respectively, P = .011) analyses. CONCLUSION CoT and TaT showed similar overall eradication rates for H. pylori. However, CoT eradication rate was suboptimal, especially in point mutation-positive patients.

Abstract
Approximately half of the world’s population is infected with Helicobacter pylori, which causes gastric disease. Recent systematic reviews and meta-analyses have reported that H. pylori may also have extragastric manifestations such as hematologic diseases, including chronic immune thrombocytopenia (cITP). However, the molecular mechanisms by which H. pylori induces cITP remain unclear, and may involve the host immune response, bacterial strain diversity, and delivery of bacterial molecules to the host blood vessels. This review discusses the important pathophysiological mechanisms by which H. pylori potentially contributes to the development of cITP in infected patients.

Abstract
ABSTRACT Tailored therapy based on dual priming oligonucleotide-based polymerase chain reaction (DPO-PCR) can be considered an alternative to overcome the low eradication rate in high clarithromycin-resistance areas. The triple therapy (TT) duration of the tailored approach in most studies was 7 days for patients without point mutation. However, recent western guidelines have recommended a treatment duration of 14 days. The aim of this study was to compare the success rate of 7 and 14 days of TT for eradicating Helicobacter pylori without point mutation, as determined by DPO-PCR.Between Feb 2016 and Feb 2019, medical records of patients who underwent DPO-PCR were reviewed. Patients without point mutation as determined by DPO-PCR were enrolled in this study. The eradication success rate and adverse events were evaluated.A total of 366 patients without A2142G and A2143G point mutation were enrolled. The success rates of 7-day and 14-day TT were 88.4% (168/190) and 85.9% (151/176) by intention to treat analysis (P = .453) and 90.8% (168/185) and 90.4% (151/167) by per-protocol analysis (P = .900), respectively. The adverse event rates showed no significant difference between the 2 groups.In patients without point mutation based on DPO-PCR results, 7-day TT is as effective as 14-day TT. Therefore, 7 days may be considered as a cost-effective treatment duration in Korea.

Abstract
Background/Aims: Standard triple therapy, including a proton pump inhibitor, clarithromycin, and amoxicillin, has been recommended as the first-line for <i>Helicobacter pylori</i> infection. However, the eradication rate of standard triple therapy has declined over the past years because of the increasing resistance to clarithromycin in Korea. We analyzed the eradication rates and the 10-year change in the eradication rates in Korea.Methods: PubMed, EMBASE, the Cochrane Library, and KoreaMed were searched for studies published between January 2007 and June 2018. The pooled eradication rates and their 95% CIs were estimated using a random-effect logistic regression model.Results: Twenty-six randomized controlled studies on standard triple therapy conducted in Korea were selected. The intention-to-treat (ITT) and per protocol analyses showed pooled eradication rates of standard triple therapy of 71.6% (95% CI, 69.9~73.3%) and 79.6% (95% CI, 76.6~82.2%), respectively. The eradication rate decreased with time. The ITT analysis showed that the 14-day therapy (78.1% [95% CI, 75.2~80.7%]) had significantly higher eradication rates than the 7-day therapy (70.0% [95% CI, 68.5~71.4%]) (<i>P</i><0.01).Conclusions: These results suggest that the eradication rate of standard triple therapy, as the first-line therapy, has shown an unacceptable decrease. The eradication rate increased when the duration of therapy was increased to 14 days, but it was not satisfactory. Therefore, other treatment regimens or therapies based on susceptibility tests should be considered for the first-line therapy.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Checking Helicobacter pylori susceptibility tests in the clinical setting before first-line treatment is considered difficult. We compared susceptibility-guided therapy (SGT) with empirical therapy (ET) as a first-line treatment containing clarithromycin and investigated the eradication rate using antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST). METHODS 257 patients with H. pylori infection, with AST, performed before the eradication of clarithromycin-containing regimens were enrolled and divided into two groups: the SGT and ET groups. RESULTS Eradication rates in the SGT and ET groups were 85.4% and 58.4% (P < 0.01), respectively. In triple therapy (TT), eradication rates of the SGT and ET groups were 85.1% and 56.6% (P < 0.01), respectively. In sequential therapy (SET), eradication rates of the SGT and ET groups were 86.2% and 65.6% (P = 0.06), respectively. According to AST, TT had an eradication rate of 84.6% with strains susceptible to clarithromycin and amoxicillin and 11.1% with strains resistant to both. SET had an eradication rate of 89.5% with strains susceptible to clarithromycin, amoxicillin, and metronidazole, whereas it was 0% with strains resistant to clarithromycin and metronidazole. CONCLUSIONS SGT as first-line treatment improved eradication rates of TT and SET by 28.5 (P < 0.01) and 20.6 (P = 0.06) percent points, respectively, compared with ET.

Abstract
Antibiotic resistance is the major reason for Helicobacter pylori treatment failure, and the increasing frequency of antibiotic resistance is a challenge for clinicians. Resistance to clarithromycin and metronidazole is a particular problem. The standard triple therapy (proton pump inhibitor, amoxicillin, and clarithromycin) is no longer appropriate as the first-line treatment in most areas. Recent guidelines for the treatment of H. pylori infection recommend a quadruple regimen (bismuth or non-bismuth) as the first-line therapy. This treatment strategy is effective for areas with high resistance to clarithromycin or metronidazole, but the resistance rate inevitably increases as a result of prolonged therapy with multiple antibiotics. Novel potassium-competitive acid blocker-based therapy may be effective, but the data are limited. Tailored therapy based on antimicrobial susceptibility test results is ideal. This review discussed the current important regimens for H. pylori treatment and the optimum H. pylori eradication strategy.

Abstract
Background: The increasing prevalence of antimicrobial resistance, together with the lack of novel treatment options, negatively affects successful eradication of Helicobacter pylori. The aim of this study was to investigate genetic mutations in the 23S rRNA genes, which is associated with clarithromycin resistance, and to determine the clinical impact of genotype on phenotypic antimicrobial resistance. Methods: A total of 46 H. pylori strains were obtained from 13 patients, before and after unsuccessful eradication with clarithromycin-based triple therapy. The phenotypic resistance of each H. pylori strain was determined by minimum inhibitory concentration against clarithromycin using the serial two-fold agar dilution method. The genomic sequences of 23S rRNA genes were identified through next-generation sequencing, and nucleotide variants were determined based on comparison with genome sequences of the reference strain H. pylori 26695. Results: Clarithromycin resistance was found in 9 of 13 subjects before treatment and all subjects after unsuccessful eradication. Whole-genome sequencing of the 23S rRNA genes detected 42 mutations on 40 nonidentical loci, including 2147A>G (formerly 2143A>G) and 2146A>G (formerly 2142A>G). All strains with clarithromycin-resistant phenotype had either 2147A>G or 2146A>G mutation. When comparing genotype and phenotype for clarithromycin resistance, there was a significant association between 2147A>G mutation and clarithromycin-resistant phenotype. Conclusions: All clarithromycin-resistant strains had either 2146A>G or 2147A>G mutation, suggesting that tests targeting these two mutations may be enough for the prediction of clarithromycin resistance in this population.

Abstract
Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection is on the rise as a cause of immune thrombocytopenia (ITP). It has been suggested that platelet recovery can be achieved following successful microbial eradication, although, the exact pathophysiology has yet to be fully elucidated. This study evaluated the long-term effects of H. pylori eradication monotherapy on platelet count recovery in patients with ITP. H. pylori eradication was analysed in 61 ITP patients. Patients who maintained a complete response (CR) for more than six months were classified as sustained responders (SR). The prevalence of H. pylori infection was 54.3% (75/138), and the success rate of eradication with first-line therapy was 71.4% (35/49). Patients who had achieved a CR at 2 months maintained a higher platelet count thereafter. At 1 year following eradication, platelet counts had increased 2.78 times in the eradicated group, 1.36 times in the sustained infection group, and 1.33 times in the no infection group compared with the baseline (P = 0.016).

Abstract
BACKGROUND The intestinal microbiota is essential for the maintenance of the physiology of immune homeostasis. Dysbiosis has been described in some autoimmune diseases, however its role is still elusive in primary immune thrombocytopenia (ITP), which is one kind of autoimmune diseases. This study aimed to characterize the phylogenetic diversity of the fecal microbiota and its relationship with the platelet activation status in patients with ITP. METHODS The platelet activation status was assessed by 2 platelet markers, PAC-1 (antibody that recognizes the activated GPIIb/IIIa complex) and CD62p (Platelet surface P-selectin) by flow cytometry. Total DNA was extracted from fecal samples of ITP patients and healthy controls (HC). Sequencing the V4 hypervariable region of bacterial 16S rRNA genes was used to identify the changes in phylogenetic diversity and composition of the intestinal flora. The obtained sequencing reads were assigned to operational taxonomic units (OTUs, 97% sequence identity) and taxonomically classified to assess composition and diversity. RESULTS The percentage of PAC-1+ platelets in ITP patients was higher than that in control group (p < 0.001), The percentage of CD62p+ and PAC-1+CD62p+ platelets in ITP patients both higher than those in control group (p < 0.001). At the phylum level, eight different phyla were identified in ITP individuals, with a majority of Bacteroidetes (45.96%) and Firmicutes (38.59%), followed by Proteobacteria (11.43%), Fusobacteria(1.29%), and Actinobacteria (1.22%). While in the Healthy volunteers, ten phyla were detected, with a predominance of Firmicutes (50.92%) and Bacteroidetes (34.26%), came before Proteobacteria (13.60%), and Actinobacteria (0.90%). The gut microbiota was skewed in ITP, with an increased proportion of Proteobacteria, Bacteroidetes and Bacteroidetes/Firmicutes ratio, a decreased proportion of Firmicutes compared with HC. Disease specific alterations in diversity was also identified, especially the potential markers (Anaerorhabdus, sutterella, Peptostreptococcaceae, Clostridium_XI and carnobacteriaceae, p < 0.05) for ITP. CONCLUSIONS The results suggested that the distinct microbiota dysbiosis in ITP characterized by alterations in biodiversity and composition, which could provide insights for diet therapy and fecal microbiota transplantation treatment to cure ITP. There might be somehow compensatory enhancement of platelet activation in ITP patients. And there is associate between platelet activation and intestinal microbiota in patients with ITP.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Although Helicobacter pylori is a key cause of gastric cancer development, its eradication rate has been decreasing by standard regimens. For successful eradication, duration of treatment has been issued for overcoming antibiotics resistance. We were to compare the eradication rate of 7-day vs. 14-day treatment in first- and second-line regimens. METHODS This study was an open-label randomized controlled trial. A total of 369 H. pylori-infected patients were enrolled and assigned either to 7-day or 14-day proton pump inhibitor (PPI)-based standard triple therapy (STT; PPI-clarithromycin-amoxicillin). Bismuth-containing quadruple therapy was used as second-line therapy. Eradication success was defined as a negative 13C-urea breath test. RESULTS In first-line treatment, eradication rate was 78.5% (106/135) and 78.6% (114/143) in the 7-day and 14-day treatment in per-protocol (PP) analysis (P = 0.805). In intention-to-treat (ITT) analysis, eradication rate was 64.0% (114/178) and 66.0% (126/191), respectively (P = 0.924). There was no significant difference in drug compliance (81.5% vs. 84.3%, P = 0.320). In second-line therapy, eradication rate was not significantly different in both treatments of PP analysis (91.7% [33/36] vs. 100% [45/45], P = 0.084). In the ITT analysis, eradication rate was 79.6% (35/44) and 90.4% (47/52), respectively (P = 0.080). Drug compliances were not significantly different between the two groups (95.5% vs. 98.1%, P = 0.728). CONCLUSION PPI-based STT for H. pylori is not efficient as a first-line therapy both in 7 days and 14 days in Korea. Although bismuth-containing quadruple therapy for 14 days as a second line therapy tend to show higher eradication rate compared to 7-day therapy, this should be elucidated by further larger scaled studies. Abstract
The Hellenic Society of Gastroenterology recently organized the “Hellenic consensus on Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection”. The aim of this publication is to report the guidelines in order to aid the national gastroenterology community in the management of H. pylori infection. Forty-one delegates from all Greek regions, including gastroenterologists, pathologists, clinical microbiologists, epidemiologists and basic scientists, were invited to this meeting. The participants were allocated to 1 of the 4 main topics of the meeting: i.e., H. pylori diagnosis and association with diseases; H. pylori and gastric cancer; H. pylori and extragastric associated disorders; and H. pylori treatment. The results of each subgroup were submitted to a final consensus vote that included all participants. Relevant data based on international and Greek publications were presented, and the quality of evidence, strength of recommendation, and level of consensus were graded. The cutoff level of 70% was considered as acceptance for the final statement. It is hoped that the recommendations and conclusions of this report will guide Greek doctors in their daily practice concerning the management of H. pylori infection.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Increasing levels of antibiotic resistance have reduced the Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) eradication rates afforded by the standard triple therapy. Thus, 2-wk first-line four-drug regimens must be considered.
AIM To analyze the eradication rates of modified bismuth-containing quadruple therapy (mBCQT) and concomitant therapy (CT), the associated adverse events, and compliance.
METHODS Patients infected with H. pylori were prospectively randomized to receive mBCQT or CT for 2 wk. mBCQT featured a proton pump inhibitor (PPI), bismuth, metronidazole, and tetracycline, taken twice daily. CT included a PPI, clarithromycin, metronidazole, and amoxicillin, taken twice daily. The 13C-urea breath test was performed no earlier than 4 wk after therapy concluded to confirm eradication. If either the histological or rapid urease test was positive, H. pylori infection was diagnosed.
RESULTS The demographic characteristics of 68 patients who received mBCQT and 68 who received CT did not differ significantly. On intention-to-treat analysis, the eradication rate was 88.2% (60/68) in the mBCQT group and 79.4% (54/68) in the CT group (P = 0.162). By per-protocol analysis, the respective eradication rates were 98.4% (60/61) and 93.1% (54/58) (P = 0.199). More CT than mBCQT patients experienced adverse events [33.8% (23/68) mBCQT vs 51.5% (35/58) CT patients, respectively, P = 0.037]. All patients showed good compliance [85.3% (58/68) mBCQT vs 82.4% (56/68) CT patients, P = 0.641].
CONCLUSION The H. pylori eradication rates of the 2-wk mBCQT and CT regimens are high. Most patients show good compliance, and more CT than mBCQT patients experience adverse events.

Abstract
The policies developed for the treatment of Helicobacter pylori infection in adults may not be the most suitable ones to treat children and adolescents. Methods used to treat children and adolescents in Europe and North America may not be appropriate for treating children and adolescents in Korea due to differences in epidemiological characteristics of H. pylori between regions. Moreover, the agreed standard guidelines for the treatment of H. pylori infection in children and adolescents in Korea have not been established yet. In this study, the optimal treatment strategy for H. pylori infection control in children and adolescents in Korea is discussed based on these guidelines, and recent progress on the use and misuse of antimicrobial agents is elaborated. Non-invasive as well as invasive diagnostic test and treatment strategy for H. pylori infection are not recommendable in children aged less than ten years or children with body weight under 35 kg, except in cases of clinically suspected or endoscopically identified peptic ulcers. The uncertainty, whether enough antimicrobial concentrations to eradicate H. pylori can be maintained when administered according to body weight-based dosing, and the costs and adverse effects outweighing the anticipated benefits of treatment make it difficult to decide to eradicate H. pylori in a positive non-invasive diagnostic test in this age group. However, adolescents over ten years of age or with a bodyweight of more than 35 kg can be managed aggressively as adults, because they can tolerate the adult doses of anti-H. pylori therapy. In adolescents, the prevention of future peptic ulcers and gastric cancers is expected after the eradication of H. pylori. Bismuth-based quadruple therapy (bismuth-proton pump inhibitor-amoxicillin/tetracycline-metronidazole) with maximal tolerable doses and optimal dose intervals of 14 days is recommended, because in Korea, the antibiotic susceptibility test for H. pylori is not performed at the initial diagnostic evaluation. If the first-line treatment fails, concomitant therapy plus bismuth can be attempted for 14 days as an empirical rescue therapy. Finally, the salvage therapy, if needed, must be administered after the H. pylori antibiotic susceptibility test.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Lactobacillus paracasei and Glycyrrhiza glabra have been reported as having beneficial effects on Helicobacter pylori infection. We aimed to assess the efficacy and safety of fermented milk containing L paracasei HP7 and G glabra in patients with H pylori infection. METHODS This multicenter, prospective, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial was conducted in 2 hospitals from April to December 2017. Patients with H pylori infection were randomized into either the treatment group (fermented milk with L paracasei HP7 and G glabra) or placebo group (fermented milk only) once daily for 8 weeks. The primary endpoint was the gastric load of H pylori measured by C-urea breath test (UBT). Secondary endpoints were histologic and clinical improvement. RESULTS A total of 142 patients were randomly allocated to the treatment (n = 71) or placebo groups (n = 71). Compared to baseline data, the quantitative value of C-UBT at 8 weeks was significantly reduced in the treatment group (from 20.8 ± 13.2% to 16.9 ± 10.8%, P = .035), but not in the placebo group (P = .130). Chronic inflammation improved significantly only in the treatment group (P = .013), whereas the neutrophil activity deteriorated significantly only in the placebo group (P = .003). Moreover, the treatment group had significant improvement in gastrointestinal symptoms (P = .049) and quality of life (P = .029). No serious adverse events were observed. CONCLUSION The combination of fermented milk containing L paracasei and G glabra reduced H pylori density and improved histologic inflammation. However, their mechanisms of action should be elucidated in further studies.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The aim of this study was to investigate the trends of atrophy and intestinal metaplasia (IM) in 2002 subjects without significant gastroduodenal diseases. MATERIALS AND METHODS A total of 2002 subjects were prospectively enrolled and divided into three periods (2003-2007, 2008-2012, and 2013-2018). Trends of H pylori and atrophy/IM scored by Updated Sydney System were analyzed according to sex, and multivariate logistic analysis was performed for the risk factors for atrophy/IM. RESULTS H pylori-negative and H pylori-positive subjects were 1220 (61.0%) and 782 (38.0%), respectively. H pylori positivity decreased from 149/303 (49.2%), 207/515 (40.2%) and 426/1184 (36.0%), in the three periods, respectively (P < 0.001). The prevalence of atrophy (P < 0.001) and IM in the corpus (P < 0.001) significantly decreased over 15 years in females, but not in males. The mean grade of atrophy and IM was higher in males (0.36 and 0.51) than in females (0.28 and 0.41) in the corpus (P = 0.027) and in the antrum (P = 0.006), respectively. Similarly, the mean grade of IM in males (0.34) was higher in females (0.19; P < 0.001) in the corpus. Multivariate analysis showed that old age, study period, and H pylori were statistically significant in atrophy of antrum and corpus, and IM in the corpus. In cases of IM of antrum, old age, H pylori, and smoking were statistically significant. CONCLUSION A significant decrease in atrophy and IM in the corpus in females over 15 years suggests sex- or gender-specific characteristics.

Abstract
Within a short time after the discovery of Helicobacter pylori, its critical role in many gastroduodenal disorders became evident. Many in vitro and in vivo data have proven that infection should be treated in order to avoid lasting colonization which may lead to problematic gastroduodenal diseases. Probiotics, preventive and therapeutic vaccines and antibiotic therapy are the main options proposed to cure these disorders. 25 years ago, triple therapy including a traditional proton pump inhibitor (PPI) and two antibiotics (amoxicillin and clarithromycin or metronidazole) was defined as the best therapy formulation for the H. pylori infection. With the strongly decreased effectiveness of this scheme, many empirical therapeutic regimens have been developed. However, the prevalence of resistance is increasing worldwide and reveals important geographic differences and even the most recent and effective regimens show some critical points. Therefore, efficacy of vonoprazan-based therapy in regions with low rate of clarithromycin resistance may be limited. In this review, we attempt to open a new window to overcome the problem of antibiotic resistance to H. pylori. In fact, we focused our attention on the possibility that conventional PPI may be replaced by vonoprazan, thus giving rise to the beginning of a new era characterized by an improved therapeutic option for H. pylori infection. Therefore, we hypothesize that switching to vonoprazan as a novel acid blocker for H. pylori treatment might allow an unexpected reassessment of the triple therapy, at least in regions with low rate of clarithromycin resistance. Nevertheless, this optimistic view of the problem could be disproved by the possible failure of vonoprazan based therapeutic regimens outside of Japan in geographic areas characterized by different rates of antibiotic resistances.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To compare Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) eradication rate of type 2 diabetic patients with non-diabetic subjects. METHODS In this multicenter prospective observational study, H. pylori-infected subjects were enrolled from three university-affiliated hospitals. Eradication regimen was triple therapy with standard dose of proton pump inhibitors (b.i.d), amoxicillin (1.0 g b.i.d), and clarithromycin (500 mg b.i.d) for 7 days. Urea breath test was performed 4 weeks after treatment. Various clinical and laboratory data were collected for identification of factors associated with successful eradication. RESULTS Totally, 144 subjects were enrolled and 119 (85 non-diabetic and 34 diabetic patients) were finally analyzed. Eradication rate was 75.6% and there was no difference between diabetic patients and non-diabetic subjects (73.5% vs 76.5%, p value: 0.814). Adverse drug reactions were reported in 44.5% of patients. In multivariate analysis for predicting H. pylori eradication in diabetic patients, HbA1c (⩾7.5%) was a significant factor affecting eradication rate (adjusted odds ratio: 0.100, 95% confidence interval: 0.011-0.909, p value: 0.041). CONCLUSION Diabetes itself is not a major factor affecting H. pylori eradication. However, poor glucose control may harmfully affect H. pylori eradication.

Abstract
Background The prevalence of Helicobacter pylori resistance to metronidazole and clarithromycin is high in Indonesia. Moreover, the increasing levofloxacin resistance rates in the absence of bismuth treatment in Indonesia has led to the use of other antibiotics as alternative regimens. Methods We determined the minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) of five alternative antibiotics for H. pylori (rifaximin, rifabutin, furazolidone, garenoxacin, and sitafloxacin) using the agar dilution method and assessed mutations associated with antibiotic resistance using next-generation sequencing. Result Analysis of 106 strains isolated from 1039 adult dyspeptic patients revealed that none of the strains were furazolidone-resistant. All strains were also sensitive to rifabutin and sitafloxacin. In contrast, the rates of resistance to rifaximin and garenoxacin were high (38.9% and 6.7%, respectively). The strains isolated from patients on Java Island had the highest resistance rates to garenoxacin and rifaximin. In addition, the resistance was distributed evenly among the ethnic groups, ranging between 25.0% and 69.2%. Except for rifaximin, for which the resistance rate was 38.9%, the other four antibiotics could be successfully employed to eradicate levofloxacin- and metronidazole-resistant H. pylori infections in vitro. Interestingly, garenoxacin-sensitive strains were found in regions with high clarithromycin resistance rates such as Bali and Papua Islands. In contrast, rifaximin might not be considered as an alternative antibiotic in regions with high clarithromycin resistance. There was an inconsistent association between gyrA and gyrB mutations and garenoxacin resistance. We confirmed that the I837V (replacement of isoleucine at position 837 with valine), A2414T/V, Q2079K and K2068R were the predominant rpoB point mutations. There was an association between vacA genotypes of H. pylori and rifaximin resistance (P = 0.048). Conclusion furazolidone-, rifabutin-, and sitafloxacin-based therapies might be considered as alternative regimens to eradicate H. pylori in Indonesia, including regions with high metronidazole and clarithromycin resistance rates. Moreover, sitafloxacin but not garenoxacin should be considered for eradication of levofloxacin-resistant strains.

Abstract
Helicobacter pylori infection is associated with the development of a chronic inflammatory response, which may induce peptic ulcers, gastric cancer (GC), and mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma. Chronic H. pylori infection promotes the genetic instability of gastric epithelial cells and interferes with the DNA repair systems in host cells. Colonization of the stomach with H. pylori is an important cause of non-cardia GC and gastric MALT lymphoma. The reduction of GC development in patients who underwent anti-H. pylori eradication schemes has also been well described. Individual susceptibility to GC development depends on the host's genetic predisposition, H. pylori virulence factors, environmental conditions, and geographical determinants. Biological determinants are urgently sought to predict the clinical course of infection in individuals with confirmed H. pylori infection. Possible candidates for such biomarkers include genetic aberrations such as single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) found in various cytokines/growth factors (e.g., IL-1β, IL-2, IL-6, IL-8, IL-10, IL-13, IL-17A/B, IFN-γ, TNF, TGF-β) and their receptors (IL-RN, TGFR), innate immunity receptors (TLR2, TLR4, CD14, NOD1, NOD2), enzymes involved in signal transduction cascades (PLCE1, PKLR, PRKAA1) as well as glycoproteins (MUC1, PSCA), and DNA repair enzymes (ERCC2, XRCC1, XRCC3). Bacterial determinants related to GC development include infection with CagA-positive (particularly with a high number of EPIYA-C phosphorylation motifs) and VacA-positive isolates (in particular s1/m1 allele strains). The combined genotyping of bacterial and host determinants suggests that the accumulation of polymorphisms favoring host and bacterial features increases the risk for precancerous and cancerous lesions in patients.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Gastrointestinal (GI) diseases are common in patients with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection. There are few reports on the epidemiology and endoscopic findings of gastric cancer in patients with HIV infection in the era of combination antiretroviral therapy (cART). We retrospectively analyzed upper GI endoscopic findings in patients with HIV infection and investigated their role as gastric cancer screening. MATERIALS AND METHODS We retrospectively investigated endoscopies conducted in Korean patients with HIV infection referred for endoscopy at a tertiary hospital between January 2004 and December 2018. Endoscopic and pathologic findings were analyzed according to the reason for endoscopy, patient age, and cART duration. All endoscopic findings were reevaluated by gastroenterologists. RESULTS Three hundred ten endoscopies in 201 patients with HIV infection were investigated. Of these, 118 (38.1%) endoscopies in 81 (40.1%) patients were performed for cancer screening purposes. Gastric cancer was found in 4 patients (2.0%); one of them presented with gastric cancer at the time of HIV diagnosis, and the other 3 patients were diagnosed with early gastric cancer on screening endoscopy, which was cured with endoscopic submucosal dissection or surgery. The prevalence of gastric cancer in screening endoscopies was 3.7%. Atrophic gastritis was a more common finding in screening endoscopies than in diagnostic endoscopies (P <0.001), and was significantly associated with longer durations of cART (P <0.001). The overall prevalence of gastric cancer, atrophic gastritis, and intestinal metaplasia was 2.0, 57.8, and 25.4%, respectively. The prevalence of atrophic gastritis and intestinal metaplasia increased with age. CONCLUSION Regular gastric cancer screening might be useful for early diagnosis and treatment of gastric cancer in patients with HIV infection.

Abstract
Background/Aims Nodular gastritis (NG) is a well-known endoscopic finding observed in patients with a Helicobacter pylori infection, which may lead to invasive gastric cancer. Lymphofollicular gastritis consists of lymphoid follicles or lymphoid cell aggregates, and is common in children. The aim of this study was to identify patients with NG from those in whom gastric biopsied specimens showed lymphoid follicles and lymphoid cell aggregates. Methods Subjects, whose gastric biopsy specimens showed lymphoid follicles or lymphoid cell aggregates, were included in this study. The inclusion criterion was that they underwent a serum pepsinogen assay on the day of upper gastrointestinal endoscopy. NG was diagnosed if the endoscopy findings revealed regular-sized, multiple, colorless subepithelial nodules. Results Among 108 subjects who showed lymphoid follicles or lymphoid cell aggregates, 13 (12.0%) revealed NG on endoscopy, and all these subjects showed positive Giemsa staining. Patients diagnosed with NG were younger (p=0.012) and showed a female predominance (p=0.001) compared to those without NG. The mean serum pepsinogen levels were higher (p=0.001) and lymphoid follicle-dominant subjects were more common (p<0.001) in the NG subjects than in those without NG. Logistic regression analysis revealed a younger age (p=0.041) and female gender (p=0.002) to be significant independent risk factors for NG. Conclusions NG should be distinguished from lymphofollicular gastritis because only 12% of patients showing gastric biopsy findings of lymphoid follicles and lymphoid cell aggregates demonstrated NG on endoscopy. NG is an endoscopic finding that is more common in women and in the younger population, irrespective of the biopsy findings and gastric secretory ability.

Abstract
Background/Aims In Korea, increasing clarithromycin resistance has led to the need for an alternative first-line therapy for the eradication of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection. Concomitant therapy (CT) and sequential therapy (ST) have been proposed as alternative regimens. The aim of this study was to compare the eradication rate from using CT and ST in Korea. Methods A literature review was performed on studies comparing the efficacy of CT and ST in Korea. Data were pooled to obtain the odds ratio (OR) of the eradication rate with 95% confidence intervals (CIs). The eradication rates were considered both on an intention-to-treat (ITT) and a per-protocol (PP) bases. Results Six studies provided data on 1,897 Korean adult patients. The pooled OR was 1.382 (95% CI: 1.031-1.853, p=0.031) for ITT analysis and 2.114 (95% CI: 1.502-2.974, p<0.001) for PP analysis. There was no difference in the rate of adverse events and compliances between the two regimens. Conclusions The efficacy of CT was superior to ST in both ITT and PP analyses. Therefore, CT could be an excellent alternative regimen for the eradication of H. pylori as a first-line therapy in Korea.

Abstract
While the prevalence of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection is decreasing in Korea, the incidence of gastric cancer remains high, emphasizing the importance of H. pylori eradication. A new treatment strategy is needed as the eradication rate with standard triple therapy, which is currently the standard first-line regimen for H. pylori infection, has decreased below the optimum level. The major cause of eradication failure is increased antibiotic resistance. Sequential, concurrent, and hybrid therapies that include clarithromycin produce higher eradication rates than conventional standard triple therapy. However, the effectiveness of these treatments is limited in regions where the resistance rate to various antibiotics is high. Bismuth quadruple therapy is another alternative therapy, but again the eradication rate is not sufficiently high. Tailored therapy based on individual characteristics, including antibiotic susceptibility, may be ideal, but there are several limitations for clinical application and further research is needed. New potassium-competitive acid blocker-based therapies could emerge as effective alternatives in the near future. A consensus is needed to establish a strategy for applying new eradication therapies in Korea.

Abstract
Helicobacter pylori plays an important role in the pathogenesis of chronic gastritis, peptic ulcer disease, gastric cancer, and gastric mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma. In Korea, the guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of H. pylori infection in adults were revised in 2013. The European Helicobacter and Microbiota Study Group and Consensus panel released the fifth edition of the Maastricht Consensus Report for the management of H. pylori infection in 2015, and the European Society of Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition and the North American Society of Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition released the updated joint guidelines for children and adolescents in 2016. Considering these recommendations and recent progress in our research and that of other research teams, this study aimed to discuss the diagnostic strategies for H. pylori infection in children and adolescents.

Abstract
Background/Aims The eradication rate of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) has been decreasing recently in Korea due to antibiotics resistance. The aim of this study was to investigate the trend of eradication rate and clinical factors affecting the eradication rate of H. pylori in the last 10 years in west Gyeonggi-do, Korea. Methods The trends of eradication rate of H. pylori, gender, age, concomitant mediations, and clinical factors were retrospectively evaluated in patients with H. pylori infection between 2006 and 2015 (n=2,485). Results The overall H. pylori eradication rate for the standard triple therapy was 82.5%. The annual eradication rates from 2006 to 2015 were 90%, 77.9%, 75.8%, 83.2%, 85.6%, 90.1%, 81.3%, 81.1%, 78.7%, and 78.8%, respectively, showing a significant decrement during the last five years (p<0.001). Higher eradication rate was observed in males than in females (p<0.001). Esomeprazole showed a higher eradication rate compared with pantoprazole between 2006 and 2010 (p<0.022). Age and the use of probiotics and mucosal protective agents played no significant role in the H. pylori eradication rate. The overall eradication rate for bismuth-based quadruple therapy was 94.4%. Conclusions The eradication rate of H. pylori over the last 10 years for first-line therapy ranged from 75.8 to 90.1%; the eradication rate for triple therapy has declined. However, the eradication rate for quadruple therapy has remained unchanged over the last 10 years.

Abstract
Background/Aims Moxifloxacin-based sequential therapy showed an excellent eradication rate as the first line treatment of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection. However, to the best of our knowledge, there were only a few studies on the treatment of those with failed moxifloxacin-based sequential therapy. Hence, this study was to investigate the efficacy of bismuth-containing quadruple therapy in those with failed moxifloxacin-based sequential or reverse sequential therapy for H. pylori eradication. Methods Between January 2013 and March 2016, we retrospectively analyzed patients who failed to eradicate H. pylori using moxifloxacin-based sequential (rabeprazole 20 mg bid and amoxicillin 1 g bid for 5-7 days, followed by rabeprazole 20 mg bid, metronidazole 500 mg bid, and moxifloxacin 400 mg qd for 5-7 days) and 10 days moxifloxacin-based reverse sequential therapy as the first line treatment. Then we investigated the eradication rates of bismuth-containing quadruple therapy as the second line treatment. All subjects had no history of H. pylori eradication before. Eradication rates were described as intention-to-treat (ITT) and per-protocol (PP) analyses. H. pylori status was evaluated by ¹³C-urea breath test 6 weeks after the end of the treatment. Moreover, we examined any side effects that caused discontinuation of therapy. Results Twenty-three patients received bismuth-containing quadruple therapy as the second line treatment. The overall eradication rates by ITT and PP analyses were 60.87% (n=14/23) and 73.68% (n=14/19). All the patients showed good compliance, and there were no serious adverse events. Conclusions Bismuth-containing quadruple therapy is insufficient as the second line eradication treatment after a failed attempt of moxifloxacin-based sequential or reverse sequential therapy. Large-scale clinical trials should be performed to establish better clinical evidence.

Abstract
Background/Aims Although some previous studies reported that a treatment combined with mucoprotective agent could improve the eradication rate in dual or triple therapy, there are other reports that question the efficacy of combining these drugs in concomitant therapy (CoCTx). The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of rebamipide or ecabet on the Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) eradication combined with CoCTx. Methods We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of 277 patients with proven H. pylori infection. They were assigned to one of 3 regimens for 10 days, twice daily: (a) CoCTx (n=118): lansoprazole 30 mg, amoxicillin 1 g, metronidazole 500 mg, and clarithromycin 500 mg; (b) CoCTx+rebamipide (100 mg) (n=85); (c) CoCTx+ecabet (1 g) (n=74). Results The baseline characteristics were not significantly different. H. pylori eradication rates were 82.2% (97/118) in CoCTx, 90.6% (77/85) in CoCTx+rebamipide, and 89.2% (66/74) in CoCTx+ecabet (p=0.17), which were statistically insignificant. Overall adverse events were more frequently reported in the CoCTx+rebamipide (50.6%. 43/85) and CoCTx+ecabet (44.6%, 33/74) groups than in the CoCTx (32.2%, 38/118) (p = 0.03) group. Drug compliances were not different between three groups (CoCTx: 95.8%, 113/118; CoCT+rebamipide: 92.9%, 79/85; CoCTx+ecabet 98.6%,73/74) (p=0.209). Multivariate analysis showed that the risk of eradication failure was significantly increased with decreased drug compliance (odds ratio 3.52, 95% confidence interval 1.00-12.32; p=0.05). Conclusions Addition of these mucoprotective agent was not superior to CoCTx alone for eradicating H. pylori infection with frequent adverse events. Rather, drug compliance is the most related factor affecting the eradication rate. Our data suggest the importance of drug compliance over the drugs used.

Abstract
Background Most international guidelines recommend triple-therapy regimens consisting of a proton pump inhibitor, clarithromycin, and amoxicillin/metronidazole for at least 7 days for the eradication of Helicobacter pylori. However, the efficacy of 7-day clarithromycin-based standard triple therapy for H. pylori infection is currently unacceptable in Korea. In this study, we will compare the efficacy and safety of 7-day standard triple therapy, 10-day sequential therapy, and 10-day concomitant therapy for the first-line treatment of H. pylori infection in Korea. Methods/design In this multicenter, investigator-blinded, randomized trial we are recruiting adult patients with H. pylori infection from 15 hospitals in Korea to determine whether sequential or concomitant treatment is superior to standard triple therapy. Patients are randomly assigned to receive either standard triple therapy (lansoprazole, amoxicillin, and clarithromycin) for 7 days, or sequential treatment (lansoprazole and amoxicillin for the first 5 days, followed by lansoprazole, clarithromycin, and metronidazole for another 5 days) for 10 days, or concomitant therapy (lansoprazole, amoxicillin, clarithromycin, and metronidazole) for 10 days. The primary outcome is the rate of H. pylori eradication in the intention-to-treat population. Discussion The results of this study will be crucial for determining the optimal regimen for the primary treatment of H. pylori infection in Korea. This study will produce vital evidence that will lead to revisions to guidelines concerning first-line treatment regimens for H. pylori infection. Abstract
BACKGROUND Previous studies have suggested a link between Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), yet large-scale longitudinal studies are lacking to elucidate this association. METHODS A cohort study of 17,028 adults without NAFLD at baseline, who participated in a repeated health screening examination including an H. pylori-specific immunoglobulin G antibody test, was conducted to evaluate the association between H. pylori and NAFLD development. Fatty liver was diagnosed by ultrasonography. RESULTS During the 83,130 person-years follow-up, participants with H. pylori infection had a higher rate of incident NAFLD than those who were uninfected. In a multivariable model adjusted for age, sex, body mass index, smoking status, alcohol intake, regular exercise, year of screening exam, and education level, the hazard ratio (HR) for NAFLD development in participants with H. pylori infection compared to those without infection was 1.21 [95% confidence interval (CI), 1.10-1.34]. The association persisted after further adjustment for metabolic variables, inflammatory marker, and liver enzymes. The association between H. pylori and NAFLD was still evident in an analysis using fatty liver index as a surrogate marker of NAFLD. In addition, the association between H. pylori infection and incident NAFLD did not differ across clinically relevant subgroups evaluated. CONCLUSIONS H. pylori infection was significantly associated with the development of NAFLD, independent of metabolic and inflammatory risk factors. H. pylori infection may play a pathophysiologic role in NAFLD development, indicating that H. pylori eradication might play a role in reducing the risk of NAFLD.

Abstract
Background/Aims Hybrid therapy was successful in eradicating Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) according to previous reports. However, to the best of our knowledge, there have only been a few studies evaluating the optimal choice after hybrid failure. Hence, we aimed to evaluate the efficacy of moxifloxacin-containing triple therapy after hybrid therapy failure in H. pylori eradication. Methods Between January 2013 and March 2016, we retrospectively reviewed patients who underwent failed hybrid therapy, as first line treatment, in eradicating H. pylori (rabeprazole and amoxicillin b.i.d for 14 days, in addition to clarithromycin and metronidazole b.i.d for final 7 days). Then, we investigated the eradication rates of moxifloxacin-containing triple therapy (rabeprazole, amoxicillin b.i.d and moxifloxacin qd) as the second line of treatment. Intention-to-treat (ITT) and per-protocol (PP) analyses were used to determine the eradication rate. We evaluated the status of H. pylori by using 13C-urea breath test 6 weeks after the final treatment. Moreover, compliance and adverse effects of each patient were analyzed. Results Among those who failed the initial hybrid therapy, 11 patients received moxifloxacin-containing triple therapy. The overall eradication rates, as determined by ITT and PP, were 72.7% (n=8/11) and 80% (n=8/10), respectively. The compliance rate was 100%, and there were no serious adverse effects. Conclusions Moxifloxacin-containing triple therapy can be used as a second line therapy in case of hybrid therapy failure. A large scale study is necessary to confirm the findings of this study and establish clinical evidence.

Abstract
Background/Aims Eradication of Helicobacter pylori infection with standard triple therapy (TT) has declined primarily because of increased antibiotic resistance. Sequential therapy (ST) has been suggested as an alternative to TT for the first-line treatment of H. pylori. The purpose of this study was to compare the efficacy of ST with TT. Methods This was a multicenter, randomized open-label trial performed at nine centers in Korea. Patients with H. pylori infection were randomly assigned to receive either 7 day TT or 10 day ST. Eradication rates, drug compliance, and adverse events were compared among the two regimens. Results A total of 601 patients were enrolled between March 2011 and September 2014. The intention-to-treat eradication rates were 70.8% for TT and 82.4% for ST (p=0.001). The corresponding per protocol eradication rates were 76.9% and 88.8% for TT and ST, respectively (p=0.000). There were no statistically significant differences between the two regimens with respect to drug compliance and adverse events. Conclusions ST achieved better eradication rates than TT as a first-line therapy for H. pylori eradication in Korea.

Abstract
Although endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) is widely accepted as a curative treatment method for early gastric cancer (EGC) worldwide, metachronous recurrence often occurs after ESD for EGC. However, there are insufficient data about the role of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection and other risk factors for recurrence. We aimed to compare the metachronous lesion in the H. pylori persistent group and the eradicated group, and to identify risk factors for metachronous lesion. We retrospectively analyzed 782 patients who underwent ESD between January 2008 and December 2013. We excluded patients with dysplasia or patients who were not tested for H. pylori infection. One hundred eighty-five patients were enrolled. We studied risk factors for recurrence, and used survival analysis to test. There were 24 patients with metachronous recurrence after ESD for EGC among the group. The incidence of metachronous gastric lesions after ESD for EGC developed more in the over 70-year-old group (P = 0.025) and more in the H. pylori persistent group (P = 0.008). In conclusion, H. pylori infection and old age are independent risk factors for metachronous gastric lesions after ESD in EGC.

Abstract
Although the global prevalence of peptic ulcer disease (PUD) is decreasing, PUD is still one of the most common upper gastrointestinal diseases in the world due to Helicobacter pylori infection and increased use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. In Korea, the prevalence of H. pylori infection is also declining, but it is still the major cause of PUD. The outcomes of H. pylori infection are caused by imbalances between bacterial virulence factors, host factors, and environmental influences. In this review, we describe the prevalence trends of H. pylori infection in Korea, the mechanism of H. pylori infection-related PUD, and treatment strategies.

Abstract
Background The eradication rate of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) with triple therapy which was considered as standard first-line treatment has decreased to 70–85%. The aim of this study is to compare 7-day triple therapy versus 10-day sequential therapy as the first line treatment. Methods Data of 1240 H. pylori positive patients treated with triple therapy or sequential therapy from January 2013 to December 2015 were analyzed retrospectively. The patients who had undertaken previous H. pylori eradication therapy or gastric surgery were excluded. Results There were 872 (74.3%) patients in the triple therapy group, and 302 (25.7%) patients in the sequential therapy group. There was no significant difference between the two groups regarding age, residence, comorbidities or drug compliance, but several differences were noted in endoscopic characteristics and indication for the treatment. The eradication rate of H. pylori by intention to treat analysis was 64.3% in the triple therapy group, and 81.9% in the sequential therapy group (P = 0.001). In per protocol analysis, H. pylori eradication rate in the triple therapy and sequential therapy group was 81.9 and 90.3%, respectively (P = 0.002). There was no significant difference in overall adverse events between the two groups (P = 0.706). For the rescue therapy, bismuth-containing quadruple therapy showed comparable treatment efficacy after sequential therapy, as following triple therapy. Conclusions The eradication rate of triple therapy was below the recommended threshold. Sequential therapy could be effective and tolerable candidate for the first-line H. pylori eradication therapy.

Abstract
BACKGROUND/AIMS Ten-day sequential therapy has been evaluated as the first line therapy for Helicobacter pylori eradication but studies on sequential therapy as a second line therapy is lacking. The aim of this study was to compare the efficacy of 10-day sequential therapy and quadruple therapy as second line treatment for H. pylori eradication after failure of standard triple therapy. METHODS Patients who did not respond to standard triple therapy for H. pylori eradication were assigned to either 10-day sequential or bismuth based quadruple therapy as second line treatment from January 2009 to December 2014 at Yeungnam University Medical Center. Post treatment H. pylori status was determined by rapid urease test, giemsa staining, or (13)C-urea breath test. Eradication rate and side effects of both therapies were compared. RESULTS A total of 158 H. pylori infected patients were included and 70 patients were treated by bismuth based quadruple therapy and 88 patients by 10-day sequential therapy. Age and sex were not significantly different between the two groups. Eradication rate was 84.3% (59/70) in quadruple group and 56.8% (50/88) in sequential group. Side effects occurred significantly higher in quadruple group than sequential group (27.1% vs. 11.4%, p=0.011). CONCLUSIONS For second line H. pylori eradication after failure of standard triple therapy, bismuth based quadruple therapy showed significantly higher H. pylori eradication rate than 10-day sequential therapy. Further prospective studies are needed to evaluate the efficacy of 10-day sequential therapy as a second line H. pylori eradication treatment.
