The study by Özcan and Düzgün provides valuable real-world evidence on the timing of diverting loop ileostomy closure after rectal resection. The authors show that early closure is associated with similar complication rates compared to late closure, while offering advantages such as fewer readmissions for dehydration and improved psychosocial recovery. I read with interest your clinical study on temporary protective loop ileostomy closure time. It is quite interesting that there is no statistical difference between early and late closure.
