Figure 1 Air pollution could increase the risk of diabetes and thyroid cancer through several mechanisms.
For example, it could increase inflammation and oxidative stress in the body and disrupt the production of cytokines and several hormones, such as insulin and thyroid hormones, linked to increased risk of diabetes and thyroid cancer.
