Mesenchymal stem cells, a type of multipotent stem cells, can differentiate into heptocytes. Recently, more and more studies have shown that mesenchymal stem cells are anti-fibrotic and immune-tolerant when transplanted into liver fibrosis models, which brings about a new treatment strategy for liver fibrosis and cirrhosis.
